How do I turn on Lane Change Assistant?
Does anyone know how to turn on lane change assistant in the new 330i? I just bought a 2020 330i with every package and the dealership told me that the car does support lane change assistant. Not sure where that option is though and I’ve hunted through all the Settings menus.

What I've read about it, this isn't available though gui at this point in time only as the result of custom coding.

Thanks for your response, Eagle Creek!
1. Can you share any articles you read about it? 2. Is it something my dealership could enable in the car given that I just bought it brand new? Would be super nice to have especially since my dealership had marketed it to me as a feature of Driving Assistance Package Pro. |

It works well in mine and nothing needed to be turned on. I’ve only used it with Assisted Driving mode / Cruise Control so not sure if it’s a limitation that it only works in that mode. I think it also only works above a certain speed.
Also, don’t push the turn signal stalk all the way to where it stays engaged. Just push it a bit before it gets to that point. The same point of resistance as doing the three signal thingy. Last edited by phillyd2; 09-21-2019 at 10:12 PM.. |

If it's like the g30 it may be country specific. Ie it was enabled for uk g30s in July 2017 but around that time for example it wasn't enabled in Sweden as one example.
If it is enabled, you have to have lane assist on and no prompts for your hands to be on the wheel and proving the lane you want to move into is free, simply indicating will move across. If the lane is occupied it won't happen nor will it if you are being prompted to put your hands back on the steering wheel. Personally a bit gimmicky and I use it for my own entertainment rather than any actual requirement or aid. |

I tried this today -- I have a USA Spec G20 with every option except for the ZTK M-Technology package.
I had Cruise Control / Assisted Driving turned on, and the car was steering for me. I tried both pressing the lane change stalk up all the way and holding it, which did nothing and I also tried like @phillyd2 suggested and held it in the "three blinks" mode but not pressed all the way to the click (there is a "click" in the G20's signal stalk if you want it to continuously blink) and it didn't do anything either. I have the 07.2019.30 firmware. Maybe it was added in a later version? I know they're up to like 07.2019.59 ... @phillyd2 can you tell us what software revision you're on? Somewhere under I think General Settings, if you go into the screen for Remote Software Upgrade it will tell you what version you're currently on. |

I have an M340i with assisted driving view and it does not have lane change assist like the X5/X7 do.

The Lane departure discussed here is the green icon on the instrument cluster that shows when the system is active. If you drift into another lane it will flash and autosteer you back into the lane.

No, NYC_340i, we are actually the feature called “Lane Change Assistant”, which will actually make the car change lanes automatically while in self driving mode.

I’ve just taken delivery of a 330i with all driving assistant options in the UK
I do not have “lane change assistant” nor is it mentioned in the car manual (electronic or hard copy) If it is available elsewhere, it may be country specific, but going by the posts it doesn’t seem that we can see any agreement on it even by country

Haven't received my car yet, but here in the UK it's not advertised anywhere, so doubt it is included. It's a cool party trick, not sure how useful it is though.

I did some searching last night and it appears that even BMW cannot say clearly if it’s in the car or not.
The link below is to a BMW Press Release from September 27, 2019 regarding the new 3 series. In the release, they mention “Lane Change Assistant”, but they say that it’s “depend[ent] on the model”. Given that the press release was about the 3 series, this statement would imply that there is a model of the 3 series that would have Lane Change Assistant, right? If not, it would be super frustrating. The Driving Assistance Professional Package is the same price across the 3, 5, 7, and X5 in the US ($1700). It seems absolutely ridiculous that BMW would sell the package with exactly the same price across all the above mentioned models, but then not include all functionality in certain models. And now that I think about it, this is literally just a software problem. If my car can self drive, self park, and detect cars in my blind spot, it clearly has all the hardware it needs to be able to do lane changes automatically. I brought my car into a BMW dealership a week ago because none of my ConnectedDrive features were working. Additionally, I asked them to look into this Lane Change Assistant thing and why it’s not even accessible in the GUI. I’ll let you all know if there’s a resolution to that. https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/globa...d-connectivity |

I was under the impression that my M340i would have automated lane-change functionality. So far, I have been unable to get this to work. Given the fact that the vehicle will simply drift out of the lane while holding the turn signal stalk in a direction while using Active Driving Assistant Pro functionality, this confusion over the vehicle's abilities could lead to problems while owners test the functionality on their particular vehicle. BMW should clarify or standardize the functionality across all like vehicles already sold. In theory, they have these capabilities using over-the-air updates.
