330e Tyres
Hi all , just wondered if anyone here had experienced similar to me regards lease company (Lex in my case) authorising replacement of the standard Bridgestone Turanza / Pirelli P7 with something more sporting and not enforcing replacement with a low rolling resistant tyre type as supplied from new.
Last week Kwikfit replaced 2 rear 18 Bridgestones (non RFT) on my M Sport with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 - A much superior tyre in terms of handling in every way , has transformed the car no complaints . What I wasnt expecting was the 3-5 mile loss of electric range per journey, is this to be expected? Running at 40psi same as outgoing tyres . |

Would that be down to rolling resistance?

A week isn’t enough time to gauge things like this, is it? Any loss of range is more likely to be down to lower air temp, or maybe even driving style as you ‘investigate’ the new tyres.

Surprised that they let them use different tyre makes from what you have on the front, Alphabet made kwik fit get in 4 tyres for my 4 series many years ago because they wouldn't accept different tyres!!
As for the loss of range that's probably weather related, I can't see different tyres of the same size having a 20% hit on range?! Also if they have 'transformed' the car, could you now be driving differently as you recognise this?

I believe they are using Michelin instead of Bridgestone because they will last longer. I somehow managed to burn through a set of rear Bridgestones in 5,000 Miles and so far the Michelins have done 8,000 and still have life left in them. Lex took a lot of convincing to replace them so soon, but directing them to this forum did help and they finally agreed.
