Exclamation Mission Performance Stage 2 with CG Precision Catted Downpipe, Dyno Results

Put the car on the dyno...
  • Mission Performance Stage 2
  • CG Precision DS1 - catted downpipe
  • Enough E85 mixed with our California 91 crap gas to equal E30

To be honest I really don't care what the car puts down because as I shared on IG (white_M340) it's already more power than I need (time to invest in more driving classes ha) but I am of course curious.

let's see what it does

ps- no baseline but that's okay I think that info is out there :-)

Same here! Just watched a video by racechip where they Dyno a stock M340i at 405bhp, with downpipe at 435 and with GTS black at 479. All figures at the crank I believe.
Waiting for chenry's results.

Just posted this in the other thread as well (mods please feel free to collapse my thread here into the other users thread) :-)
  • 463 Wheel HP
  • 493 Wheel Torque
  • For comparison "red" run is a stock S85 (X3M) running full E85
  • Car is smooth, linear and pulls like a freight train
  • Add 10% or 11% (or whatever you believe to be true about drive-train loss) to get crank numbers
  • So even at the most conservative 10% engine is making over 500HP and 550TRQ - and it feels like it
  • Most important the engine is happy and healthy doing it :-)

Wow nice numbers. I am ready to go stage 1 with Mission once I figure out how to remove my ECU.

Nice numbers!!!

Not sure if it came up with you and MP, but for the m340 does the ecu still need to be shipped out if not LOCAL?

Quite impressive numbers.
I'm also on MP stage 2 but without the DP.
With a splash of 3 gallons of ethanol per tank the thing is a beast in sport+ mode.
To be honest it pulls harder than my former stock M4, and friends X3M but that car is much heavier.
That B58 engine is a masterpiece IMO.

**I added this remark to the other thread going on this subject - so until the mods collapse the two threads into one I'll put this here too"

All - I should have added while Alex could have squeezed a couple more ponies out of the car for dyno/drag/draggy glory today - for Me at 49 (after many many modified cars) not really where my head or heart is at. I just wanted some nice solid pulls and a car that is happy and healthy to put down the power it does.

I think the car at this point is "optimized" for what I want - a smooth daily driver that seems like I simply checked an option box from the factory for more power - and something that I can beat the poop out of at our AutoX events and it will simply ask for more (this has been my experience with tuned cars by Alex in the past)

Is it "maximized/pushed to its' limit" no probably not....If you want more (from this basic setup) - I'm sure he will have the conversation with you but it really (likely) falls outside of what he considers responsible tuning (balancing performance with drivability and longevity) and his strategy for street cars. And at over 500 crank hp and 550 crank trq I'd be a fool to say otherwise. Just my 2-cents

ps- if you are local to me in Southern Orange County (HB) - I am always happy to meet up with anyone that wants to drive the car. Similar offers have certainly helped me over the years and I am happy to do the same for others :-)

Motor on

Thanks yes I am more than pleased - 500 crank has a nice ring to it :-)
That said here is a link to my Son's 328.

And here are some additional numbers from MP showing stage 1 (albeit on 91 octane)

ps-I just found these numbers on their website (no I am not the keeper of MP dynos ha)

Yeah if you look at our (meaning the two us on stage 2) torque curve it explains a lot - it comes on early and strong

Thank you - I agree!

Sorry It didn't come up and I know this is a bit of a moving target. I would simply give him a call to see what's up.

Hope this helped a bit....

You will be amazed how easy it is - I was going to take a few photos or video and post but he said we would have something up by the end of the weekend! So I'll leave it to him

I know that is what he said when I talked to him but when you have no idea where it is or how to disconnect it it’s not that simple. That is why I just need a little help. I am going on vacation next Sunday so I was hoping to send it out while I am gone.

I have one :-)....0-60 & 1/4 miles I think will be worthless given the combination of run flat tires (on my to-do list) and the lack of driver skill (me). Also don't have much room for 1/4 around here - so that would be a ways off.

That said I think some rolling numbers will be fun to see for sure

okay I'll go shoot some basic photos to give you a high-level of what needs to be done - I'm sure what he will post will be much more detailed.

Here is a very basic how-to. I know it's not all that comprehensive but I think with these few steps if you give it a go it may all start to make sense.

Your DME is located under this cover
Name: IMG_9308.jpg
Views: 2748
Size: 75.2 KB

With a simple tug the cover will lift off, exposing your DME
Name: IMG_9309.jpg
Views: 2664
Size: 67.6 KB

Here is your DME - it has the 6 plugs on the top of it :-)
Name: IMG_9310.jpg
Views: 2703
Size: 148.9 KB

While I have been told you don't necessarily have-to disconnect power for removal - the plug in the red rectangle is a simple way to do just that. I believe it is a twist off but I don't remember 100% - the arrow points to the plug
Name: IMG_9311.jpg
Views: 2696
Size: 120.4 KB

Now all you need to do is remove the 6 plugs at the top of the DME
Name: IMG_9312.jpg
Views: 2682
Size: 148.3 KB

The plug removal process will become very apparent as soon as you try the first one. You push down on the retainer (red arrow) and then move the handle (blue arrow) towards the front of the car - it will easily move and when you do this - the plug will gently slide up and unplug itself - repeat the aforementioned for each of the 6 plugs at the top of the DME
Name: IMG_9313.jpg
Views: 2633
Size: 140.5 KB
Name: IMG_9314.jpg
Views: 2669
Size: 144.4 KB

Your DME can now be pulled up and out of the car and it's free :-). You'll notice the DME is sitting in a metal bracket - can't remember if there are clips in the bracket that attach to the DME - if so it'll be apparent how to unclip the DME

Disclaimer: This is what has worked for me in the past - I'm sure there are better and different ways of removal. I hope this helps get you started.

Thanks a ton chenry! When Alex explained it to me that is where I thought it was but then when I pulled the cover off I had no idea what I was supposed to do. A picture is really worth a thousand words in this case.

Of course - cool glad I could help. Please offer your feedback after you've removed the DME and tell me if it went as I described or if you would change something with what I shared. Also please kindly report back on the bracket the DME sits in - as I recall it simply slid out after the plugs were removed but maybe there was a small clip. Watching Alex do this I think he's probably at about 45 seconds :-)
