Cheapest way to make M340i louder?
I've been looking into catted vrsf DP's but they're kind of expensive and I don't want to muffler delete due to drone. Any ideas?
I've looked at catless but I dont want CEL and gasoline smell. |

Sawzall rental.
Or just unplugging the valve in the open position.

ha you're dating yourself by saying "golf tee mod" and i'm dating myself because i know what you're talking about lol
that said in the 3 series we lost the golf tee mod in 2012 with the introduction of the f series which replaced the pneumatic / vacuum actuated exhaust valve with an electric one - as others have mentioned now you just pull the plug (the same general design carried over to the g series) thanks for sharing - i miss the golf tee days!! |

Supposedly it closes sometimes at low RPM? I never believed it did but some people claim it does. It's certainly closed on cold start even in Sport +, but if you unplug it while it's open it will just always be open.
I did this mod but will probably undo it, not really a huge benefit and I like being able to shut it in other modes. |

cheapest would be straight pipe but it does not sound good in my opinion. Your best bet is still the catted VRSF

Was thinking of adding the BMS intake myself but don't see a whole lotta love for it around these parts it seems?

Is unplugging the valve in the open position causing any sort of error messages in the car? Do you foresee any unexpected issues by doing so?
Just curious whether it's something safe to do over a longer period of time and in different weather conditions |

Unplugging it won't throw any errors and you can wrap the plug and socket with electrical tape to keep it safe from the elements.

I'm no mechanic but this seems odd to me. I watched a video of a Belgian owner (with OPF) who has done the same mod, 20,000km and no CEL for him. I will likely redo the mod and get a reader to check the code for myself if it were to happen again. I can't find any other instance of someone reporting this issue. Has anyone else had a similar problem or got any advice? Thanks |

The technician advised it was low pressure at the OPF. Dealer has sent the part of the paperwork through, don't know why they couldn't send the whole document through. Would these codes seem correct? From looking around it seems only my car has thrown a CEL by doing this mod so can't help but think it may be something else. CEL only came on after 1,500 miles and on the day, after a 45 minute drive across country, seems strange to suddenly be an issue. Thanks for the help |

138104 is the exhaust flap open circuit fault code. That one shouldn't give you a CEL. I've had that one (among others) since I unplugged the flap. It must've been one of the others.
