What's all this 'sedan' business?

This is obviously a paid endorsement. Don't make much of it people. Nothing to see here.

The only way to judge these cars is by your ass-o-meter and how quickly it spikes your heart rate.

Rated as the best in class in the UK... We don't get all the 'superb' stuff you get in the US.

Sure sure. The majority of 3 series buyers don't care about driving experience anymore. 99% of the people buy it for the badge and would buy a 5er if they could afford it. They're building a car to sell to the masses and they accomplished it. They don't care about the less than 1% of us enthusiasts who complain about the size or the lack of a manual or whatever your complaint is.
Bla, bla, bla.

Enthusiasts don't pay the bills. The badge whores do.

Of course it is!

It has also seen light taxi cab use in Europe but not to the extent of the E-Class which is the de facto German Ford Crown Victoria.

Executive car of the year awarded to a 3 series??? I can't wait to see this in person. And to drive it.

Nah, the ones who hate the new models are not enthusiasts by any means. In most cases (not all), they have an old BMW (mostly E90s), and they're haters until they get a new one.

Also, across all markets there is this weird 'They don't do it like old days anymore' feeling, which is totally untrue. Most things are way better now that they were in the past. Including BMWs.
For instance E36 had terrible build quality, got 1.5/5 from Euroncap in crash tests (was really really bad in terms if safety), the inline 6 would do like 15mpg, and E36 M3 looked almost exactly the same as the standard E36. E46 didn't have any damping, SMG was a nightmare, it was unreliable. E92: Road bearings and other reliability issues, bland interior & exterior, too jerky in city, etc etc... All of them had caviats, but the number of caviats have been progressively diminished over time.

Bingo! Winner post of the month.

Is it so hard to understand that different countries have different names for things?

Another example "saloon" vs "sedan"

Remember it is BMW selling loads of these 187 bhp "bread and butter" models that allows others to buy an M3.

What's all this 'sedan' business?
I can help. Traditional three box with a 'hood' and 'trunk'

*Hood as in bonnet, not as in 'watch your wallet, the scrotes are about'

**Trunk as in 'I'm packing my trunk to travel on the steamship' not as in Nellie's or budgie smugglers.
