That's also the case in the M2C afaik. (with having to turn off DSC as well for it)

Same here. The aggregate value of all technology added in M340i is worth considering. I will wait for G20 based Gran Coupe or i4.

+1 Thank you for the reminder. Indeed: M4 Gran Coupe will be added to the serious evaluation short list, making the purchasing decision more agonizing in the nicest possible manner.

M3 Pure is a great idea by BMW
Really hoping for passive suspension with smaller wheels 18"-19"

Luckily, in the current F80 you can have rev-match off in Sports Plus.

Hopefully, there is a way to disable, or be able to blip the throttle yourself in the upcoming pure model, w/o having to turn DSC off.
Not sure how much smaller wheels can go. Can you get m3 brakes behind 18 inch wheels?

The interesting part is the growing consideration for the GC bodystyle...whether 430, M440, M4, i4. Trunks, as we've long known them, are disappearing from the marketplace. Seems the body is set, and this becomes a powertrain decision matrix.

I hate that they use a MT vs zf8. Doesn't tell you much.

The comparison is not an auto vs manual or AWD vs RWD. It's really a 3-series vs an M2 Competition that's the real comparison. And how AWD in a future M3/M4 is more than overdue.
But regardless of whether it's an M car or not... it's still awd vs rwd which for a drag race makes all the difference.
If an M340 beats a Porsche 992 is not a "AWD vs a RWD" argument. It's a 3-series beating a $100k 911.

Same situation here. The new 3-series is so well engineered that keeps up with the current M2 Competition, at a power deficit, weight disadvantage plus an "auto" transmission.
Well not really. The m340i will cost more than an M2C or very close and it's power and weight disadvantage is further my point that awd and auto makes a car easy to drive fast in a straight line hence my initial post which was it wasn't really impressive.

To be honest i think it's awesome that a non m is that fast I was just disputing the "impressive" aspect of it

What do you mean? The M3 comes standard with 18” wheels.

There is nothing in that drag race to get excited about, pretty much as expected to be fair I actually think it goes to the M2C a manual and rwd and still wins the day, draw + 1 win, M lite boys going to have to try harder....

The other day I lost to a b9 Audi A5 with my e85 f80 m3 from 0-60.

It was a raining day.

In conclusion, there's no comparison.

Unfortunately in the 2018's, you can no longer turn it off (regardless of mode). I don't mind it though.

I'm not really sure why everyone gets so excited about a drag race.
Take an automatic 4 door sedan and put it in drive and mash the throttle... Whoop-dee-doo

M4 Gran Coupe
As much as I would like to, I doubt the M4GC will happen. The same argument BMW used for the F80/82 is still valid for the G80/82. The ROI for BMW to have another M car with 4 doors based on the same platform is just not there
