Air releasing noise

I’m a new owner of G20 330i LCI and just had a quick question for the current owners. For the first time I drove in S and Manual mode after getting the car up to operating temperature tonight but keeping it under 4000rpm as I’m still running in the engine, and heard this sound of air releasing only when I manually upshift the gears - I think it was also there on Manual Comfort mode with the driver side window down. On searching the forum it looks like there is no blow off valve in the car. I was wondering what it might be. It sounded cool though.

Is it just the intake noise? There is a distinct noise that I think is actually just part of the ASD - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Active_sound_design

I’m not sure what the intake sounds like - I’ll have to look that up later today. I’ve got a MK6 GTI that I had for 12 years now and I remember wondering about the whistle noise when I first heard it on my first night drive as well which turned out to be a normal turbo spooling noise. Is ASD the one that people call a fake sound coming out of speakers as well? Anyway thanks for the heads up. 😊

Yep it's basically fake noise internal and external to the car. It definitely has an induction noise on acceleration, not so much on gear changes that I've noticed. I'll give it a go in my car and see if I can hear anything that sounds like a BOV.

Thanks very much for that 🙏 I’ll try recording it tomorrow night as well and see if I can upload it here. It probably is induction noise like you said - it wasn’t as pronounced as BOV but I could hear it as I was accelerating and upshifting manually in S mode. It sounded like a normal operational noise.
