MY24 4 series - Week 9?

Guys, it sure looks like the 4 series vehicles on order just got bumped to 2024 specs. These were MY23 "Week 7" and later it appears.

They report both iDrive8 and curved display in their build as of late Wednesday. Makes sense to me. SOP is 3/23 per the MY24 Ordering and Price guides.

Have you been upgraded? If you had the Premium package, you win HUD and wireless charging.

I was told back in December when ordering my 2023 M440i that it was iDrive 8. Many models seem to have switch over mid-year.

Frankly I am hoping it gets iDrive 7 as I hate the looks of the iDrive 8 panel (it looks like they stuck it on as an afterthought) and I also would prefer the iDrive 7 shifter but we will get what we get at this point.

Where are you in the build process? My 430iX G26-based GC went to "Dispatched from Factory" yesterday after bouncing from the paint booth through assembly, QC and final assembly the previous 24 hours.

I’m still sitting at “Production Begins”.

I guess I would rather it be delayed than have options dropped but at this point I think my Feb 1st production date isn’t going to happen unless they add the “Flux Capacitor” option to it.

Hmmm... I would think yours is going to be an MY24, then. Did they quote you a production date or week? Mine were 2-February and "Week 5", but mine went into actual production (was "Scheduled..." starting on the 16th) on the 24th and finished on the 26th. I ordered it 29-Dec.

They told me the first week of February.

The F12 inspect data still shows it as a 2023 Model Year and still shows a production date of "2023-02-01"

It’s a guessing game at this point. Maybe they are holding it to run a batch with similar options/trim or waiting for an option ordered but I would have thought it would at least gone through paint by now as yours and mine stated production at abount the same time.

I could call the BMW Genus line I guess but the reality is that it will get built when it get’s built. The oddity is that it may come off the line weeks after another car but still get on a boat at the same time or even sooner depending on the destination ports.

Go figure? Mine originally said 02-02-2023 for build start. Now it's at Bremerhaven as of an hour or two ago. 18.00 local time, roughly.

Lemme go see what is docked at the container / roro part. Yesterday the Maersk Ohio left and another Maersk liner was headed in.

... And the Maersk Moscow has already sailed, and I don't see a name I have seen here. It's time to call Genius.

Also, I am should have thought: the NA model # should have changed, like 234T to 244T for example - where "T" is the specific model / xDrive combination. Thr BMW AG code stays fhe same, only the VIN changes-, the year code and checksum, so 2 digits are different.

You see the NA code only in the F12 exploit.

Where do you see this info? I'm still waiting to get a production number for my 244V. I'm kind of the opposite and specifically waiting for a MY24 with iDrive 8. Would be awesome if I can get a week 9 build.

How do I check the tech specs for my build on a Mac? My 23 GC m440i is done and waiting for a boat.....mine was done 1-23 or so...ordered 12/20 of 22. I hope and pray it does NOT have Idrive 8 or any of the new items. I do not like the new look (looks cheap to me) and I like simple buttons for things like heated seats. I specifically bought now because I do not like the new look and that would be a deal breaker for me. Keeping my fingers crossed I get a Idrive 7 car.

Since you have a MY23, you'll definitely have iDrive 7. I wouldn't worry about it. I went the other way lol. I wasn't sure either, but I spent a good amount of time in an i4 and I liked it a lot in person. Of course it's not perfect, but it was easy enough to adapt to and it felt a lot cleaner and modern compared to iDrive 7.

Thank you for the response. Appreciate the feedback. I drove a 3 series with it and while it was nice, it did feel a little "too much" for me. I like tech.....but I was looking for more of a balance...some buttons some screen. I do think idrive in general is one of the best infotainment systems out there....if not the best. it's easy to navigate and use.

I guess I was surprised (and worried) since OP said some MY23 orders got flipped. I noticed they have not updated the BMW website as of yesterday either. You would think that some coordination would be going on if M23 cars are going to get idrive8....they would show that on the website.

well....I guess I would take either one now that I have slept on it. Bottom line is I really want a GC. I commute 100 miles per day and am looking forward to having a sporty DD. I am driving a X3 right now....but its soon to be my daughters first car. I bough a Lexus ES 350 F sport....and while its a nice car - I am selling it as it just does not have the driving personality I enjoy.

Yep, what occasionally happens is an MYXX order gets flipped to a MYXX+1 when you're near the transition for any number of reasons, but your car is already built as a MY23 so you're all set.

Wireless charging will be standard on the M440i and part of the Convenience Package on the 430i.

Great info, looks like they are also adding an option for Dragon Fire Red as a paint option. Hopefully they add back Mineral Grey as well, such a nice color
