My car is still stuck at Halifax where it is shown at "not authorized for pickup". Seems that all M340i are still at Halifax and not authorized. Seriously, it takes less time to produce the car and have it in Canada then to send it to the dealer? I am in Montreal, but are any other Canadian in the same situation? Any ideas why?

We’ll see.

Anyone know when they enable BMW Connected within the car? I keep plugging in my VIN on the app but it still says my car doesn’t have the feature. I was hoping I could login before it reached the dealer.
It didn't work for me until it got out of VPC.

Now I’m getting a different error. The new message says there’s a connectivity error. Progress.

My car is still at VPC in Baltimore. They're adding the port installed options, shipping to the dealer this weekend, then the dealer is doing some installation and mods for me. I'm hoping for delivery next Wednesday.

Portimao blue M340i

Bumper-to-bumper M-Performance parts in gloss-black (no side stripes or decals).

794 M bi-color (jet black, burnished) wheels

I pieced together the entire gloss-black shadowline kit that replaces all of the cerium gray parts.

Hi guys, new here, first post.

I was reading through this thread last night and was surprised a few of you seem to have ordered your M340i a while ago. And it looks like someone has even taken delivery of the car.

That's awesome, don't get me wrong, but my dealer out here in California wouldn't give me an allocation until last week, when the build website went live at BMW.com.

My car just finished being built (I'm impressed how quickly they did it) and is now "dispatched from factory" which I'm assuming means it's on a train headed for Bremerhaven?

Anyone have an idea how long it will take from here? Does the boat go through the Panama Canal or does it land on the East Coast and go overland to California?

Based on what the dealer said, I'm not expecting to see the car until June. But maybe it will be sooner

I love those wheels, very Porsche-esque. I would have sprung for them if I wasn't worried about my city's crumbling road infrastructure destroying rims.

Check out the timeline in my thread. It usually makes Bremerhaven within 1-2 days. For a West Coast delivery there are a few ships leaving on the 12th and 13th, and the run take roughly 30 days with stops along the way. Find out which ship your vehicle is assigned to from your SA.

For CA/OR/WA, ships go through the canal - and if you track and time it right you can see the ship going through on the canal cams (I did this for my previous vehicle). Once through, assume ~1 week for offloading, clearing, transportation to your dealer, and dealer prep. tighter fidelity depends on where you are in CA and what ship route. In theory, if you are on one of the ships this week, you could make it by end of May to the dealership.

Would you happen to have the part numbers by any chance. Specifically the mirrors, grill, & lower vent intake covers.

I fiddled around with this a bit more.

Turns out BMW VINs are incremented by 1 for each car that makes it through the production line (this makes sense, I had just never confirmed it). I tried a bunch of VINs near mine +/-10 and eventually found one I could add, which resulted in a render of an M340i getting added to my vehicles tab.

However, it requires two factor auth to actually connect to the car. This is expected, as it would be a huge security hole if anyone could just hook up to a car's camera using a VIN.

Finding Out Which Boat

My M340i is currently at the port. How do I determine which boat it's on (once that occurs)?

Do I have to call someone or can I look it up online? I hate calling.

BMW genius will have the boat you're on. Your CA should have access to this info as well.

I just flipped back to “in transit”. I’m guessing I’m on a truck and out of the VPC.
