Condensation on headlights

Hey

I've recently collected my 340i from the dealership and had noticed condensation forming on the nearside/left headlight. I understand that BMW calls this out in the operating manual as normal and that the condensation should disappear after mild usage.

In my case, however, the condensation never really disappears and only happens on the left headlight. I've attached pictures to serve as reference. For people that have recently collected their G20, are they also experiencing some levels of condensation?

I'm in London so the weather isn't excessively cold.

Thanks!

I had a bit in mine (both sides), bit less than yours though: was just mist on the inside of the lenses, no drops of water. I noticed it after I first drove it on a wet / cold day (so basically as soon as I got the car at the start of November). Haven’t seen it since despite keeping an eye out for it. The manual says “ If moisture increases, for example if there are water droplets in the lamp despite the head- lights being switched on, have the headlights checked” so I think if there are water droplets there and it never goes away I’d get the dealer to check it, even just for peace of mind.

Thanks! I dropped by the dealers the other day to pick up my NAV codes and was told this is normal(ish). They did say if it persists or increases, book it in for an assessment.

I just picked up my 2024 m340i and this happened. I think this is definitely not the normal amount that bmw expects, but what do you guys think? I definitely will still take it in to get it checked but it looks like the housing isn’t cracked at all.

Looks perfectly normal to me. The housings are not hermetically sealed and with the relatively low forward heat from LEDs it's to be expected.

I've seen as much as that in mine on previous occasions too so don't think it's anything to get concerned about.

That's not dissimilar to how mine looked when I first drove it in the rain after I got it: bit more there than there was in mine though. Only noticed it once in mine since, so you may well find yours resolves after a bit of time.

I'd concur with everyone else's comments. Also, the condensation subsided after a while and I no longer get the same amount as I did when I first got the car.

It might be better to wait and see if it subsides for you, too!

This is mine - just happens when it’s very cold / wet, otherwise no sign of anything.

Mine now look like this. The one with heavy condensation in doesn't clear even when it's been sat in the sun for hours. I've never used a pressure washer - only ever hand wash with a gentle hosepipe rinse. No sign of any damage such as stone chips etc.

NS one most definitely needs replacing.

Wow, that looks bad imo, definitely needs sorting, you can see the water build up and drips in there!

As for the others and already commented, all others look to be normal. Even the new Merc I have now does it, worse than my bmw ever did, but again it’s all normal.

As others have said that NS headlight unit looks really bad.
I have just had both of my rear light units replaced at my local dealership yesterday under warranty (my car's 17 months old) as they had water droplets forming in them.
My front units do fog at times depending on weather conditions but certainly not to the extent of your NS one.
Keep the photos you've put on here and have them available to e-mail to the dealership it will massively help to support your case to getting it sorted especially as you can show the stark difference between the units!
