This is a techincal document from BMW on the G29 Z4 (same exhaust principle and same engine as in the 320i in the Z4 20i). It clearly shows the OPF in the middle of it, and the catalytic converter is right after the turbo.

Hi, I am new to this. I have the same on my 2019 330i. I assumed this is just a resonator? The above picture is the same set up on my car can someone confirm. I would love to remove the res to give me more sound!

After you remove OPF you need reprogram you DME if not car will be in limp mode on hard pulls there are plug in modules or find a good bmw programer
