So I was always told and read the 1% tolerance calculation for staggered wheels on a xdrive. I just got off a call with a reputable wheel company saying that a 275/30/19 and 255/35/19 setup would be ok. That puts it at a .5" difference or a 2% difference. Said it's ok!

There is no "magic number" that once exceeded your car transfer case breaks. The closer the difference to to 0, the better. It most probably will be OK to run the setup suggested, but in case of trouble BMW can refuse warranty service. If you want to be on the safe(r) side - stick to the 1% rule. If you really dig the look and ready to take some risks - go for it

I was trying to keep the back the same until I have to do a complete tire change and the back already had 275/30
