We're getting sample wheels soon to confirm the fitments we have in mind. The plan right now is a 19x9" front fitment and 19x10" rear fitment. The offsets aren't finalized yet so I can't spill the beans there.

This will give you a staggered fitment obviously, but also a solid oem+ 19x9" square/rotatable fitment as well for those interested in that sort of setup. There is also the 19x9.5 ET25 supra wheel we mentioned above that has already been produced. Once we have a solid rear option, a 19x9.5 ET25 front and 19x10 rear will be a great aggressive fitment for someone looking to maximize front tire sidewall support without the rear poke of 19x9.5 et25 square.

We noted a small difference between a few chassis in one of our laser scans that I am waiting on feedback about to make sure certain models won't have liner rubbing issues. ETAs seem to be forever pushed back on the flow formed side but once we finalize offsets I'm hoping to see wheels around August/September though sooner is possible. The samples arrive next week so I should have some details to share once the test fit and photoshoot take place.

That sounds amazing! I can't wait for these wheels and I think a lot of other G20 owners would agree.

Any chance you’ll offer any of your existing 5x120 BMW wheels in 5x112 pattern? 19x9 +28 ARC-8 would seem to fit well as a square setup!

I think you'll be happy about our new front SM-10 width and offset. We're considering additional flow-formed designs but I'm focused on getting the SM-10s dialed and launched first. Then we can look at other options including maybe the VS-5RS forged. The bolt pattern and bore change can also require load rating changes and sometimes recertification and engineering so it's not a simple transition in all cases.

On this note, our 5x112 G20 sample wheels have arrived:

We're getting tires mounted early next week and have a test fitment hopefully on Tuesday if everything goes according to plan. Wheel size and tire details to come.

I'm very excited. Stay tuned!

Please test the 40 aspect ratio on the front, as not everyone can afford to drive a 35 because of the shitty roads

You just made my wife very happy. She’s been holding off on her coilover install because she’s been waiting for some Alex wheels.

Nice set of wheels! Do the front wheels/tires clear the spring perch or does it rub under any conditions?

APEX SM-10s | Sneak Peek

We just wrapped our first photoshoot up on a G20 3 series an hour or so ago. We don't have the photos or feature video edited yet, but I wanted to send over a quick initial look at these new wheels.

APEX SM-10s in Anthracite

Wheels:
Front:19x9 ET28
Rear:19x10 ET38

Tires:
Front: 255/35-19
Rear: 275/35-19

Some of these images were pulled from our IG story hence the text. For those of you catching this early, you can watch the behind the scenes video of this photoshoot here: https://www.instagram.com/stories/ap...um=share_sheet

We are working on getting these wheels through the final engineering steps and into production. Current rough ETA: August or September this year, but that is subject to change. More content to come soon!

19x9 ET28 Square Notes

I'm in love with the staggered setup shown above, but many of our customers who have xDrive cars or need the ability to rotate wheels and tires between the front and rear axles will run the 19x9 ET28s front and rear. Here is a look at where these wheels will sit on the rear of the car with the same 255/35-19 PS4S:

Looks great!
But how you think, can i use on front 245/40 tire aspect ratio ? Bcs on front 35 aspect ratio - too hard for my wife
Also, cant understand, is there a difference between RWD and Xdrive in the sense of different wide rims? I thought there was no difference.

Youonlyliveonce I'll let Tom give you an official answer, but from my understanding you can use 245/40, but the diameter of the wheel will be quite different from OEM. So this can affect the spedometer, gearing, etc.

Thanks for finally revealing the wheels Tom! The fitment looks great and it's basically nearly flush with the fenders... a great OEM+ size. I think the only drawback is the design of the SM-10 is not very BMW-like... it looks like a wheel that would fit perfectly on an WRX STI.

The fitment is absolutely spot on!! Great work! The wheels look good on the M340i body! I will definitely be ordering these.

245/40-19 would certainly work on the rear, but up front it is going to be tight in terms of clearances:

Name: IMG_5244.jpg
Views: 1998

This is a quick snapshot of the tire clearances around the front suspension although the photo angle isn't quite ideal. The 245/40-19 tire would be narrower and ~8.8mm taller than the wheel and tire pictured there. I think it would clear with most tires on the market but you can see where the lower spring perch will be tight because of the tire. This is one we want to test, but sourcing Michelins currently has been a pain. It's on the to-do list.

You're correct, xDrive cars can run different rim widths and staggered tire sizes as long as the front and rear overall rolling diameters are within a percentage threshold, generally around 1% or less. With that being said, many xDrive owners opt for square fitments for ease of fitment (no tire math), the ability to rotate (better tire life over the set with a proper rotation schedule), and because they aren't rear grip limited like a RWD car typically is.

Yes, the larger diameter can affect gearing and the speedo, but that particular size shouldn't be a major issue as long as tire clearance is good enough to run without rubbing.

Thanks for the feedback! We didn't expect to satisfy everyone with the initial design, but I'm planning on this being the first of multiple options for this chassis. The remainder aren't finalized yet but I would like to add a forged option in the future and more flow formed options as well. Stay Tuned!

Hmm, I guess I was spot on with those square setup specs

Do you happen to have any pictures of rear inner tire clearance? Seems that 295/30/19 should fit easily, but wondering if we could even squeeze a 11” wide wheel and 305s back there…

Expert@ApexRaceParts Thanks for considering the G2x platform for the forged & other flow-formed options, especially the classic EC-7. My preference would be 8.5x19 front, 9.5x19 rear with better offsets up front to clear the spring perch w/ different tire sizes.

Not for nothin, but there are a number of x8.5 and x9.5 flow formed and forged options in good offsets for the G20. x9 and x10 options are super limited, so makes sense for Apex to go there.

We don't have any rear clearance shots we can share at the moment. 285 would certainly be doable in the rear with these wheels and certain tire models. 295 may fit, but would lack sidewall support with a 10" wide wheel. We tested an 18x11 ET40 Supra rear wheel on this chassis in the past and clearances were quite tight with a Yokohama A052 in 295/35-18. Any of the 11" options would likely require mods/liner trimming with 305 tires.

No clearance issues with this setup. It was rub-free and we didn't note any witness marks on the tires or fender liners.

Sample wheel weights are not indicative of final production wheel weights. They should correlate quite closely but we will release the final weights after we've weighed a larger sample of production wheels. With that being said, the sample front wheel weighed 22.6 lbs while the rear was 23.2 lbs.
