Did anyone cross shop the new Volvo S60 T6 R_Design with the G20?

I was going to pull the trigger just based on looks alone- The new s60 is such a beautiful car inside and out. (especially compared to the G20)

But after driving it, I was a bit disappointed. It drives nothing like its beautiful sporty looks. Super light and numb steering-i think the steering ratio is something like 16.2:1 with 3 turns lock to lock. Does anyone know what the G20 steering specs are?

It did feel super solid and highly refined though- Definitely has improved a ton from the previous generation and can prob hang with the A4 and C class (not saying much from a driver's perspective). And the lease deals are so hard to pass up- Low 500's per month for the fully loaded $57k T6 R-design with minimum down. I think it'll sell pretty well because most people in this segment don't care much about driving dynamics anymore.

In the end, I ended up going with the G20. Like others have said, its not really a master in one area like it used to be but its still the overall best choice.

It was in my final-4. Had a lot of redeeming qualities. I ended up wanting something a little more sporty.

I hope Volvo does well though. I'd like them to stick around.

It is a beautiful car...the S60 T6 R Design in red is a real looker. Plus its made in a brand new South Carolina plant. I was disappointed with the turbo charge + supercharged 4 cylinder engine...its rated a 314 HP...but had huge lag...and seemed less powerful and spirited than the 330i.

Also, with all that "plumbing" I would worry about reliability.

I am (was) a huge Volvo fan which is pretty clear from my avatar and always consider one before buying a new car.

In 2007 when they killed the real R cars, nothing in their line up made me excited until now.

Yes, I did look at the new S60 but it sure is no comparison to M340. It is a beautiful car for sure.

In my opinion, Volvo has finally entered the luxury segment since the Geely buy out. The design of the S60 in my opinion is probably best in class tied with the C-Class (just my opinion) and they have really improved the brand in many areas, although reliability has suffered over the years, but its not like many luxury cars are very reliable as it is, so for a lease it probably isn't too bad.

There's one big problem with every Volvo in my opinion though, the Sensus infotainment system. After spending a few days in an S90 rental when my car was totaled, I had the worst time dealing with the infotainment. Constant freezing, stuttering, lag, and lack of physical buttons just made the system a pain in the a$$. Apparently Volvo has fixed the lag issues in the S60 w/ a new processor, but in my opinion, the system at least needs some dedicated buttons/knobs, especially for seat heaters! It really shocks me that a brand so prided on their safety would use such a distracting infotainment system. The freezing and lag of the infotainment got so bad that I went back to the rental agency and switched to an A6, in which I felt way more comfortable operating its controls while driving.

Absolutely felt the same way- you have to go through two touch screen clicks before you can even change the cabin temperature!

Spring leaf rear suspension. That scared me away and Savagegeese confirmed it for me months later, terrible ride over harsh pavement.

Everything else though, is fantastic. As usual, very safe car. I still wish it has dials for AC/heat though.

Personally I didn't find the ride harsh over bad pavement.

It's certainly no more harsh than my G20.

Also some manufacturers are able to do great things with sling leaf suspensions these days. Look at the new Mazda 3.

My boss just bought an XC90 and got upset when I showed him iDrive 7 in my g20 because it "ruined his car for him". He said the display quality and responsiveness is far above Volvo's current infotainment system.

It's not driving dynamics, but just another bullet point for the Volvo vs BMW debate.

I know a few people with new Volvo's and they're all having a bunch of problems with them. Apparently the reliability is pretty hit and miss with them.

I even picked a F31 over the V60. The Volvo looks great, but driving and usability is extremely frustrating. We have the new V60 as company loaners, they are awful to drive.

I had a new S90 rental a year ago. I didn't care much for the Sensus infotainment system. Wasn't horrible, but it sure wasn't great, either, if you've used Audi's MMI, Volkswagen's MIB, or BMW's iDrive.

The rest of the car was "okay", but I'll give them points on the base engine - it pulled better than I expected. Suspension and handling was okay; I was up in the Sierra Nevadas, and the car often felt sloppy in the twisties. Comfortable on the highway, though.

The S60/S90 are the kinds of cars that are handsome to look at, have great seats, but were it my own cash on the line.....nah, I'll pass.

The new S60 was on my list this week, especially since I get Volvo A-Plan pricing. I ran numbers on a fully-loaded S60 T6 Inscription vs a comparable 330i xDrive and the S60's lease numbers on tier 1 credit came back higher. And that was despite having a lower adjusted cap cost.

In the end, the S60 is a great car. Sensus is drastically improved, but still not on the same level as iDrive 7. I also hate how a car over 50K can't be optioned with a built-in wireless charger. But what really irked me is the fact that no Volvo has extendable sun visors. Imagine having to commute southbound in the AM and northbound in the PM every day with the sun glaring on the left side of your face because the sun visors don't cover enough of the driver's side window. For me, it'd be an issue.

test drove the volvo v60 T8 (390hp hybrid) as I was looking at getting the volvo v60 polestar edition but they did not have any available for test drive, infotainment etc is ok comfort is nice but the dam gear box is shocking and for a near 400hp car it felt sooo slow. Just submitted my order for my G21 330i msport+ edition
