Mine behaves inconsistently. Much of the time, the lights come on when I approach the car and the door unlocks automatically when I get close to it. At other times, Comfort Access doesn't recognize me at all. Grabbing the handle doesn't work and I have to open the door using the remote.

I'll have this his glitch checked out at my next service appointment. It really isn't much of a problem, but it would be nice if CA always operated the way it should.

Yes, both: Activating and deactivating locking and unlocking are options.

Turned it off on day 1 as I leave the car unlocked while parked in the garage.

Mine functions like the old school CA which is exactly what I want it to do, no problems what so ever.

I like it. The only bug it has is when closing the trunk lid with the button. I walk away and the car won't lock unless I hit the button next to it to lock it.

You walk away and it will lock and mirrors will retract, but if you move back towards it it does the whole unlock sequence again even if you aren't headed to the driver's door.
I really don't understand the point of the car unlocking when you walk towards it. It's seems pointless to me. I mean when I walk up to my Volvo with keyless entry and pull on the door handle it automatically unlocks and opens. I understand locking when walking away, that's a nice features. However, unlocking when walking to the car seems kinda useless when you still have to pull on the door handle.

My car was delivered with all of these options already disabled. I haven't even thought to try them out to be honest, especially after hearing all these lol

I've discussed this before and it may be your issue if this is the case. If your interior dome lights are manually switched off so they don't turn on when doors open, then there's a bug where it doesn't light up the door handle lights upon approach.

Turn your interior dome lights back on and you'll see the door handle lighting will work again.

Careful with this as I have done that before with my previous BMW, until it started throwing fault codes at me one day. One of the modules did not go to sleep properly without locking.
Should not happen, but it can.

Thanks but lights switched on and had already read your post and tried it.

Was working before last software update and then stopped after the update.

Just seen another one on here where it stopped working after the software update as well and said it's been coded out!

I only activate the unlock when approaching and turn off the lock when leaving. Even then it still drives me crazy when walking around the car because it's clicking instead of locking and unlocking.

Does anybody know how it functions on a Tesla?

Hahahaha yes had literally this yesterday. Am deeply loving the car and comfort access, but it was weird to see the mirrors pop in and out. More of a curiosity than an annoyance at this stage, but could get wearing.

I think this is a single boundary issue; both lock and unlock are set at around 0.5m. If I was tasked with finding a solution I'd have 2 boundaries; one at 0.5m for unlock and one at 3m for lock. As long as the key stayed in the <3m radius the car wouldn't lock again. Kinda obvious though, so there might be technical limitations; like repeated polling of the key could flatten its battery and so on.

Thanks. My 1st CA car was a 2007 E92 335 and all of my BMWs had it ever since. They all get parked in the very same spot the same way over the years. I don't keep them past the warranty period and never experienced failures so far.

Ah I miss not having this on my new 330e. Couldn’t spec it sadly.
Since it has all the gubbins on board - would be nice if they could up sell this as an OTA upgrade in future

I’d never leave the keys inside my car when it is unattended. Ever. For the reason you’ve mentioned. I always take my keys and phone with me if the situation ever arises.

Yeah, I guess I forgot that not everybody lives in safe places at least you won't have to worry about it locking and unlocking anymore

Same experience. I will have to pull on the handle 4-5 times and then it will open. Let me know if you find a fault.

Mine does that maybe once in 50 times? But one tug on the door handle is enough to unlock the car. Like keyless entry in the other cars.

It doesn't respond since you keyfob is essentially in 'sleep' mode if not used for a few days. Think there was a discussion on this not too long ago on a thread somewhere.

Yes. But this happened at a store a few times. At home, I’d use comfort access to get into the car. Drive to the store. Get out and walk away and it doesn’t lock. I always keep my ears opened for the lock sound. That’s how I know it didn’t lock. I have to use the remote to lock. And sometimes, when I get back. Same thing. Doesn’t unlock and I have to pull on the door handle for the car to unlock. I don’t need to use the fob though.
