Furthermore I probably wouldn't have a need to transfer my MP tune to the new car with all the new found power |

Lol cheers to the OP for being such a good sport. Entertaining read. Some of you are WAY too serious. Wow.

If I were to remove any badging, I would go with complete badge delete. Otherwise you are just a poser, imho.

Hmm I don't get the anology - a grilled cheese without the cheese does not deliver the same experience as a "typical grilled cheese" - however an M340 with one M badge removed (one of God knows how many) delivers exactly the same experience

okay so people used to be a "poser" by adding an M badge to a non-M car (that I get) but now if one was to remove the M badge (one of 24+ on the car) they are a "poser" too? Please explain - I'm not here to be argumentative I just don't understand the logic

I enjoy that my car says M340i on the back and every M3, M4 owner that I know, give props seeing it. The reality is that the letter "M" is no longer a singular proof of an end all be all in performance, speed, and handling per BMW's new car performance modeling structure. Think of it this way, now you have:
- Traffic commuter and efficient but sporty looking (G20 330 M-Sport), - Everyday spirited driver with the need for performance (G20 M340i/xDrive) - Enthusiast, spirited driver with + skills in handling who also participates in car meets once in a while (G80 M3 Pure, Base RWD AWD) - Professional driver who frequently goes to the track and truly utilizes the cars performance and handling and frequents car meets as a weekly/bi-weekly routin (G80 M3 Competition AWD)

It's like people who won't wear brand name clothing because they dislike the image they think it presents. Instead they shop at second hand stores and garage sales, not out of necessity or thrift, but because they wish to present the opposite image. They act like they're above being concerned with what they wear, but ironically, they're also using clothing to present a specific image, just on the other side of the commercial spectrum. Their clothing selection is still motivated by concern over what others will see, instead of solely on what they enjoy or find comfortable. |

We live in a world where there will be more automatic M cars in the next few years then manual so that alone changes what the M brand means. Look at the M5 for God's sake and how many electronic systems it has. Is that really, by definition, a "pure" M car? I feel as if the customers, like the brand itself, are also changing. To me, the badge signifies that you purposely wanted a better performing 3 series and understand what you got. Unless you deal with a rich jerk, any M enthusiast will appreciate that. |

The problem is, we put labels on everything including people. If someone sees an OP with 20 inch rims they call them ghetto wheels and where is your gold chain. We typically put things in a box and some use this as a tool to make you feel inferior. We are a judgemental society and it will not change. As I have said before, if I paid for the M340I and what comes with it, I ain't removing shit.🤨😎

The person who affixes an M badge to their car, and the one who removes the badge both obsess over the brand. One wants to falsely associate with the positive impression implicit in an M product, and the other goes out if his way to avoid any negative connotations associated with a fraudulently placed M. I don't actually care what others do to customize their cars though. They can customize it to look like the General Lee for all I care. Not my thing, but whatever. |
