Using Sport Plus Mode in the city

Hi,

I had a few questions. So ive seen a bunch of things in the sport plus mode, people talking about traction control, etc. From what I've seen in the car, sport plus makes the car more responsive and makes the exhaust sound better.

1) is it bad to drive around the city in sports plus?
2) With sport individual, can I get the sport plus exhaust sound without the increased engine response (less jerky)

Thanks

It would be nice if BMW had an independent exhaust setting like Audi.

Mercedes has it too with their performance exhaust. Sports plus has a lot more of a response with the exhaust.

You might want to try Engine in Sport Plus with Transmission in Sport.

Was thinking of trying this. Just to make sure my back wheels stay strong.

Wonder what the difference with MPG between the two sport modes

Yes, I get a big difference in MPG between Sport and Sport Plus. 22+MPG in Sport, but 15 to 18MPG in Sport Plus.

This is good info. 22MPG in Sport is pretty impressive.

Overall i've been shocked with the MPG in this car.

Why are we mincing over MPG in a vehicle that costs $65k+?

Just drive the car. Who gives two shits about the MPG.

Especially given how cheap gasoline is compared to European countries....

330/330e if you care about MPG...

I have been impressed that I can get over 40MPG (UK Gallons, and according to read out at least) on a motorway run. Around town, yeah not so much but it's too much fun in Sport, holding onto the revs and blipping the down changes .

Not sure if you're speaking to me but I've been driving in Sports Plus so it doesn't bother me.

Try adaptive mode with auto start stop it saves a ton of gas in the city

Did not like adaptive and I can't stand auto start/stop.

Its never bad to drive around in sports plus. Only thing to factor in is jerkyness and gas mileage. I have a 330 so its perfect. I filled up two fridays ago and have been driving in sports plus every since. minimum 3k RPMS. Still have 150 miles left.

2) With sport individual, can I get the sport plus exhaust sound without the increased engine response (less jerky)

You would have to put transmission in comfort for it to be less jerky but doesnt completely take it away

Thanks

So I tried this out.

Sports plus engine with sports basic transmission and steering gives a less jerky feel with increased exhaust sound. Throttle response is great while cutting down the initial RPMs. I find it interesting that sports plus engine has a louder/better exhaust note.

This is going to be my default moving forward.

There you go not bad. Me too its weird that I had to code in sports plus into my car. Now I would have thought I bought a m340i lol.

I even have braking downshifts in sports plus that sound amazing when coming to a halt in 3, 4 gear. bumps down seamlessly with crackles and burbles. Reminds me of driving lambos and ferraris just in a much smaller dynamic lol (much smaller)
