Full MSRP for Online Builds?

I just spoke with two dealers and they're telling me that when you build a model online from the website that you don't get any incentives or discounts like you do if it was a car already on the lot.
Does that sound right? Seems weird.

I built my car to order with the salesman at the dealership and I received multiple incentives. I would find a different dealer. Try sending your build code to other dealerships and see which incentives they are offering.

What incentives did they offer?
Once dealer gave me a loyalty discount of 2k and maybe another $500-$1k.

I received $2k off MSRP, $1k loyalty, and $1k for financing with BMWFS in December, so $4k total.

In this current market , you should aim for 6%-8% off msrp.

Wow. That's pretty good. Where are you located?
In S. FL, I just called 4 dealers, actually 5, but 1 I couldn't reach because of phone problems.

Only 1 gave $3k off(which was 5.7%). Another I'm in the middle of negotiating, I might be able to get the same deal with a better fee structure so the total cost will be less.

The other one has ridiculous fees so I don't want to even bother.

The 4th one told me that the entire rebate model will change by the time I get the car in 2-3 months and therefore the price they quote me today won't even matter because it might be different and they can't guarantee me a set price right now. I've never heard that before and I've only ever bought a car off a lot once. I've always ordered a car and never been told that. Ever. Ridiculous.

The rest of the dealers are so far away I don't know if I want to bother driving there. Especially if I have to deal with this same bullshit.

I was only able to get 2% off MSRP on an order in Dec and that was after communicating with five different dealers. I was able to confirm the out the door price prior to signing the order so hopefully there won't be any last minute nonsense when I go to pick it up.

It depends on what incentives BMW is offering and generally speaking you'll be able to negotiate a bigger discount if you buy what's on the lot versus build to order online.

Start the buying process early and shark around for what's on the lot and you should be able to negotiate a nice discount.

At very minimum the dealers should be able to tell you the incentives from BMW you qualify for. Loyalty, college grad, military etc.

Or use a broker. I’m sure you can get at least 7% off. I’ll probably never buy directly from a dealer again.

Using a broker was the best $500 I ever spent.

The only downside is if you live far from where the dealer they use, you may have to pick up your car or get it shipped.

I live in the north east and the dealer the broker used was in Chicago. I had it shipped. Cost $400 to ship. Pretty reasonable.

I think it makes sense for the dealer. It costs them money to have a car sitting on the lot so they will be motivated and accept less profit. The online build doesn't cost them anything.

With that being said, that does not mean you have to pay MSRP for an online build, I wouldn't, and I didn't. If they can discount the car on the lot they can discount it when you order it.

Only one BMW dealer here in Memphis and last June when I ordered my M440i GC X-Drive I got $1500 off. Could have been more if I wanted to finance. But was paying cash.

Yeah Miami sucks for buying and getting a good deal on certain cars. They giving me $1k off so far lol I don’t know if I can get more off when it arrives as I can always cancel.
