LOL I own a SRT hellcat and 340xi, hellcat traps low 100s in the 1/8th mile so even without traction by the end of the 1/4 it's bus lengths.

Yup! Anyone complaining about F30 steering should quote whether it is pre or post the LCI change. Personally, I never drove a "pre", but I had no complaints about my '16 340i.

Sorry to hear that the G20 steering wheel is not as nice as the F30 model.

I have both DHP Pre LCI and LCI. I find both terrible, but actually prefer the VSS rack in the LCI as it's at least quicker.

VSS is terrible in my opinion and the single reason I didn’t pick ZTR

Nope, plus the Q50s was AWD .... like I said for that short burst to the next light he did not gap me... both were kinda surprised.. Now keep in mind I'm not talking a full drag race.

I DID race a hellcat in my M4, just for the hell of it... knew it was a lost cause, also I had turned DSC completely off, so that caused about 3 seconds of wheel spin... it was a good laugh!

They didn't mention that it was a hellcat though, just an srt challenger. A hellcat had better beat a 3 series.

The 6.4L hemi is fast but it won't walk on a g20 340i. It might give it a good run, but won't leave the bmw in the dust.

Against a hellcat, I think an f90 m5 would be a good match for it. It would likely come down to the driver, and whether the m5 was in awd mode.

I've got a thousand miles on my M340i. I'm not beating on the car during the first 1200 but I have redlined it here and there.
  • Low and mid RPM power is significantly increased in relation to a stock F30 340i. Very noticeable around town.
  • The F30 340i really loses steam at the top of 3rd gear. I was hoping the extra 60 horsepower would help here, but the top of third gear in the M340i doesn't feel any faster. To be honest the M340i feels slower than the F30 340i in third. Going to wait for break in to be done before judging entirely but curious to hear what others with M340s think. I wonder if it's the gear ratios changing that caused this.

I drove up to about 120mph in the one I test drove, it's 150lbs heavier than my existing f30 340xi with a jb4 and i thought it seemed quicker than a stock f30 340xi. Just my thought, can't find the gear ratios listed anywhere... guess I didn't notice they were different.

Drove the G20 today. It was nice. Car drove great but at the has no soul. It felt like a nice rental car has no BMW feel to it. It's not a car I would drive and when I'm not driving it I can't wait to get back in. It's just a good driving car. With no soul. I'm coming from a 2013 535i, (2011 335i my favorite 3 series ) 2016 F80 comp (2018 X5, 2013 M3 comp, 2018 M3 comp manual) to date.

It's not raw like the F80, and it shouldn't be, it serves a different purpose.

But, I can tell you after being in a Ford Fusion rental (hybrid), I couldn't wait to get back in my M340i, and relatively speaking it has a lot more soul than the Fusion!!

Also, I'm speculating that a decent tune will bring out the raw side a little more... watch!

The 2 wheel drive model is only .2 seconds faster than my MPPSK car. So not a huge difference as the power gain is mostly in top end horsepower, the torque figure remains the same as MPPSK. The biggest change appears to be in x-drive. It is now .3 seconds faster than the base car vs. .2 seconds in the old car, somehow they made it better. Since you are comparing this to a non MPPSK car you might notice more gain in power compared to that. You are going 0-60 in 4.8 to 4.4 vs going from 4.6 to 4.4. As for exhaust note, based on the video it seems MPPSK is louder, though in other videos I'd say they are almost the same. Definitely louder than non MPPSK, though I'm not sure about the Euro version due to new noise laws.

I hit 1200 miles today so I flogged the car a bit. Annoyingly, New England is getting a record rain this April/May so I'll post a whole impression thread once I get a good drive in on a dry day. In the meantime, a couple points:
  • The M340i, in 40 degree weather on summer tires and rainy roads in a straight line feels quicker than my stock F30 340i with all seasons on a dry day.
  • In sport plus, the transmission is faster than an F30 340i transmission with the shifter in "sport" mode. Put the M340i shifter into sport mode and it's on a whole different level. My dad (who is also an auto enthusiast, not exactly clueless in this regard) asked if the car had a dual clutch, to which I said "nope, just a ZF 8 speed".
  • I have a hard time believing this car only has ~40 extra lb-ft of torque over the F30 340i. It feels more like a hundred. Even on the highway 4th gear can shove you back in your seat if you're around the 3k RPM torque plateau.

I agree!! Sport/sport+ feel very close to the F82 DCT!

Do you notice a difference with exhaust note??

I'm surprised no one has put theirs on a dyno yet.

My dealer said they are getting their first M340i demo on Tuesday. I'm now curious to see how it compares back to back with my current 340 with MPPSK. We shall see...

It has the same torque as mppsk. I do feel it has better lower rpm torque than before the tune. Not sure what the torque curve is like on this car but more down low is even better could still use more.

The on throttle exhaust note has stayed roughly the same in my perception. Burbles/pops are all over the place still. I got some really loud ones yesterday but it's not consistent. I wonder if the exhaust is still breaking in.

Ok, I had the pleasure of having a challenger hemi [I assume 5.7L.. it was dark, well a scat pack is still low 4s 0-60, so who knows] blow by me on a highway in Mexico! Sooooo, i say what the hell and gun it [ still in break in mode 900miles] and catch up to them. They decide to try and pull, we probably hit 120mph, I kept it to a car and a half length for safety...

They finally decide to pull over to right lane and slowed down , I guess confused:

Needless to say, I’m impressed with the performance, and can’t wait to see what a proper tune unleashes!!

Just finishing a lease on a MB C450. Wanted to go to a C43 but couldn't reach a deal with MB.So I test drove a M340i- loved the brute power, handling, and tech. Interior a great improvement over my last BMW- a 330i about 12 years ago. Was going to test an Audi S4 but scrapped that idea.
Ordered it in Alpine white (initial choice was black, but my wife already has a black car in the garage), Cognac leather, aluminum tetragon trim, driving asst. pkg, premium pkg, H-K audio, ambient lighting
Should receive it in about 5-6 weeks

How did the M340 and C43 compare?

Good choice. I was thinking about changing from my M235i to a C43, particularly after the recent C43 update. I ended up going with an M340 xdrive, and am very happy with my choice. The C43 is an updated version of a model near the end of its life, the M340 is a brand new model, and I think it shows in the tech and performance.
