A while back a user reported the theft of his car when the thieves did not have his key. The thieves turned off the Privacy Setting which allows the MyBMW App to show the vehicle's location.

At the time I wondered why BMW didn't give an option to PIN protect certain settings e.g. Privacy Settings.

Whilst poking around in my iDrive settings looking for something else, I stumbled across Valet Mode settings. That seems to give the option to PIN protect the iDrive settings.

Is there a reason why setting that when parking in a "dubious" location isn't a good idea?
