Enable Tail Lights with DRL on G20
I'm looking for a way to make rear lights turn on automatically when DRLs are on. My understanding is that in Europe they are always on (like front day lights), but in US they are turning on with low beams when it's dark.
I asked Bimmercode support, they said they can't do it for G-series cars. Has anybody done it? How? Thanks! |

In USA I believe you just turn on park lights and you get both tail lights and drls

Hi guys, any update on this? IŽd love to have the rear (tail) lights on as the DRL. I used to have it that way on all of my previous cars (Audi, VW) where it was quite simple. The only thing you had to do was code it (with VCDS) as a "Scandinavian mode" or something similar. I thought itŽs required in Scandinavia, but it seems from the post above thatŽs not the case at all...

I set drl_s at DRL_MODUS in BDC. In F-series this works, but in my new G20 nothing change. May be there is other code in BDC or MGU that turn tail lights on. Still searching

You are able to switch on/off the rear DRL in the iDrive menu (ID7), under exterior lighting. Cars with the new software have this function.
Ex factory only the front DRL is on with auto lights. |

Just use BimmerCode in Expert Mode on BDC:
BDC / 3702LicFeatures / Feature_4 |

There is one option in HU_MGU HMI_SPEECHES and the checkbox would be displayed. But it is without function. So if you want taillights in DRL you can switch it on permanently with the above mentioned settings in BDC.

Just coded the always on taillights and it works. Not sure if I'm going to keep it on though.

I'm on 03/2020... SW as the car was delivered in April but there is no check box for DRL at all. I'll wait for an OTA update but I'd expect the only way to have it enabled will be still the (custom) coding :/
