330i air filter replacement

Hey guys

Does anyone know how to replace the stock air filter in the 330i? I want to put in a drop in filter (not CAI). I know you have to remove a few clips on the stock bix But I was wondering if the intake tube has to be disconnected too.

And no. I can't check newtis because BMW asked them to shut the site down and wants people to pay $30 a day or $250 a month or $2500 a year to use bmwtis!!!!

Any insight will be appreciated.

To answer my own question. You only need to undo the clips (4 of them) and lift the top of the air box. You don’t need to disconnect the sensor or undo the hose clamp. Literally a 20 second job.

Which filter are you going with? Would be interested in knowing if it improved sound and if there is any perceived difference in performance?

I got a drop-in K&N filter. No improved sound. No perceived performance difference. I got it because I saw A LOT of posts (especially for cars with the B58 engines) of people getting drop-in K&N filters. Not sure why they changed it but I assume it's a good thing? But I can be very wrong too.
If you don't have a tune on your car, stick to the OEM filter. I only have a couple of days driving experience with the filter (less than 20 miles in all). If I don't think it makes a difference to the engine, I'll return it soon.
