M340i - What Year(s) should I consider??

While I await an allocation for my wife's 50e (trading an X3)....I am contemplating trading my GMC AT4 for a M340i. I started researching, and I'm just looking for some general feedback/suggestions on a year model for a used one, low miles. I'm OK with the look of the LCI, but also like the pre-LCI. Thanks!

If you never want to make any mods then any year. Otherwise only get a pre-June 2020 built model.
The ability to make changes and cstom code/change/ tune the pre June 2020 model makes a big difference. Even tiny details like LCI not having an ASS defeat button.

Just find a low miles one and you're good.

Appreciate it! I've read that many like the 2020, exhaust, etc. Don't plan on mods, but good to know.

Pre covid ones tend to have more kit and are tuneable.

Some year without i-drive 8 would be a great choice.

Ah yes the exhaust note is severely muted on post 2020 models. I can't tell you how much I enjoy the exhaust note of my pre June 2020 car.

If IDrive 8 is not important I would try and find the lowest mile 2020 you can find. Prices are coming down.

Disclaimer* I have a 2020 with an intake and downpipe and it sounds glorious.

Mexican Spec 2024 M340i has all the best:

No mild hybrid so its lighter and still has pops and bangs along with updated interior and exterior.

Thats what I own in Mexico of course.

I just went from a 2021 pre-lci to a 2024 and the 24 is hands down the better car. I was worried about missing content, cost cutting—it was all nonsense. The exhaust sounds about twice as good. I don’t see any reason not to try for the latest model year.

This is why I bought my 2021 out of the lease.

Do the mexican ones actually not have the emission regulations? You can get an LCI without the mild hybrid?

“COVID spec” shortage of various parts, so BMW cut features out to keep production running.

My '22 is missing the power-closing trunk (still have kick to open feature) and passenger lumbar adjustment - those I don't really care about. Some are missing the touchscreen, that would be a deal-breaker for me.

Always run the VIN on 2021+ cars you're considering first, it will list if anything is missing or removed due to shortages.

MY22 Same as you, except mine is missing the touch screen. I was given $500 credit, although I’d rather have the touch screen. I suppose it’s forced me to use the physical knobs below. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

If they didn't have the ability to pass US emissions you could not legally import it. You could ge a Tourist visa but not register it.
