Dravit Grey with Cognac or Mocha?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I'm ordering an M340i in about a week or so.

Can't decide on Cognac or Mocha interior. My main concern is that Dravit and Mocha don't match as well as Dravit and Cognac does.. although I do prefer the black dash that you get with Mocha interior.

Is the cognac interior really as orange as people say it is in person?

Any insight/opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely Cognac, it's not horribly orange. Most mobile phone images don't have the correct white balance.

You can also check Motor1 article which shows Dravit with Cognac

I'd love to see some pics of a mocha interior in a Dravit Grey G20. That is possibly my order the end of the year.

Keep in mind that mocha is no longer available for 2021 models, at least in the USA. And at this point you are not able to order a 2020 anymore.

I picked Mocha with Dravit because I felt the Cognac was a bit too loud for me. Cognac does go very well with it, I just preferred Mocha. I also preferred the black lower dash.

As mentioned however, Mocha is being dropped from the lineup for the 2021 model.

I have the mocha interior and I really like it - subtle contrast to the black interior trims. I think it matches Dravit ok because of the gold/brown metallic flakes in the paint. It's down to personal preference at the end of the day. Good luck and I don't think you will regret with either interior choice.

I personally liked mocha better because it's a little more subtle than cognac.
I feel like mocha is a nice change for people who want something other than black, but are still a bit afraid of the brighter colours (like I am).

It looks perfectly classy in combination with the oak trim, though.
Not sure about Dravit grey, but I'm contemplating Tanzanite blue with an oak and mocha interior.

I thought Mocha is no longer available for 2021MY? If you are placing an order now, I assume that's for 2021, then Cognac should be your only option?

I have cognac with Alpine white and like it. It's not too orange, at all.

I ordered mine having mocha with mineral grey
I didn't go for cognac mostly because I don't want the lower dash to be cognac, however I do wish my lower dash is in mocha instead of black (it probably sounds weird lol)

I have a mocha car, but the cognac looks great too, IMO. Cognac is more reminiscent of a baseball glove with a hint of orange in it. In person it looks more like saddle brown, not the bright orange-ish hue you see online. Mocha is a nice deep brown leather that lightens up a lot in sunlight. It's more of a true brown. You can't go wrong with either but mocha is probably a bit easier to maintain in the long run.

Here's my cognac...I've taken a few pictures of the interior in different light, and I think this best represent its true in life color.

You will no longer be able to order with mocha. MY 20 production is done, and they are shifting into MY21 next month which mocha is no longer an option.

I wonder if mocha is only temporarily not an option due to supply issues with everything that's going on. I've seen similar things occurring on other models.

I have mocha but if they had a Nappa color choice similar to the Dakota cognac I would have selected it. Personally, I dislike the Dakota upholstery (yes...I had it on a prior BMW so I am speaking from experience) so I had to select from a small set of Nappa choices.

I do like the mocha and it goes with my bluestone metallic so it will probably also go with Dravit but, all things being equal, I would opt for the cognac if it comes down to the two of then.

They do have an option, Tartufo Merino leather... the choice I made on my custom order that was cancelled
I’ve ended up with Cognac (under Dravit), no regrets and there’s no maintenance.

If you mean temporary as in they will bring it back in 2022, maybe. But it wont be available at any point during MY21.

I personally think it just was not popular enough for them to continue offering it.

Is that confirmed? BMW has brought in colors mid-year before so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for them to bring mocha in with an updated ordering guide halfway through the MY21 production run.

Yeah they bring in stuff mid year but have they ever taken an option away and brought it back?

They had a disclaimer on mocha that it would take longer than normal when you configured the 20 MY, if they had supply issues and intended to keep it i dont see why they wouldnt do the same here.

They have. Tartufo for the X5 cones to mind. Had it on the 2019 model, took it away at the start of the 2020 model, and then eventually brought it back.

You may very well be right and that it won't be offered at all even later, and potentially due to just low demand.... but I wouldn't be surprised if they do bring it back mid-year.

As to why they don't just keep it and inform everyone that it may take longer, my guess is there's a few reasons for that. One might be that they're uncertain about its future supply, in that they don't know when it will come back. The other might just be that it saw increased demand in other models, so they're limiting supply for the 3 series so that say, the 5 series for example, has availability. I would also imagine it might be a PR issue if delays start creating 6+ month wait times with no certainty behind when the build would happen (the mercedes GLE disaster comes to mind with people waiting up to a year for their special orders). In these situations it's probably better to just not offer the option at all until supply issues are sorted out.

MOCHA all the way. Classy and without the ugly two tone dash. If you are out of the US and can get the all black dash, then it’s a win with cognac and oyster. Love the cognac with the all black dash option.
