I’ve had my AA catted down pipe on for a few thousand miles (3-5k)…. From time to time will get a CEL with the error code below. Comes randomly though I just clear it. AA has offered to replace the Downpipe though I haven’t wanted to deal with removal and install. They will stand behind their product and offer a full replacement. Love the sound and increased performance of the mod.

I just had the same thing happen to me cleared it hopefully it won't come back. If it does I will take them up on the swap

For new installs… give it 100-500 miles. There is a break in period, “greening.” If it persists, then that’s another story. I’ve become very efficient af clearing codes. Takes 1 min. When my wife takes the car as her DD, may have to swap as I don’t want her dealing with clearing codes.

I just had an AA dp installed a week ago. No CEL. Sounds great without an exhaust. Money well spent.

If the code pops up after a new install, that's normal. Just clear, and after a few hundred miles, it will go away and never come back.

If you are still getting the code after that, contact AA and they will replace the downpipe for free (if you wish to go with that option)

Never had any issues, and my cars are leased. been using the AA downpipes for the last 5-6 years (3 different M4s)

I have been looking for some metrics comparing the AA catted DP to cheaper options (like 3x cheaper) but haven't had any luck.

No CEL guarantee is the main reason for sure. Their quality and customer service are awesome as well

You can't find a downpipe with no CEL guarantee for three times cheaper. These cats cost a lot of money.

I 100% agree and should have been more clear on that aspect that AA offers. I am just not interested in the no CEL guarantee since I will be tuning the car immediately after installing the downpipe.

With that said some people with a tune are still going with AA and I am trying to figure out why before making my decision.

Keep in mind that just because a tune hides the CEL does not mean you can pass emissions. Thats another reason to go with Active Autowerke.

In terms of sound, fitment, power, and reliability there is not much difference you are getting from AA vs other proven brands. It's mostly going to be the check engine light and emissions.

On my previous turbo cars, even with a tune and a catless downpipe, I would have issues with boost spikes, especially in colder weather. A catted dp helped with that.
