First drive on the SottoZero3's in actual winter conditions and I'm extremely impressed. They're not foolproof, but the grip and control on ice and (light) snow is quite impressive. My first time on winter rubber, I wasn't sure what to expect. Wow, I'm a convert.
No issues getting around with RWD. Even small snowy/icy hills that appeared to be challenging for other cars and SUV's (all four wheels spinning) was not a problem for me. Also very impressed at how quiet and composed the tires are on a very cold, 5-degree (F) morning. |

Is everyone going with the staggered setup for the OEM option? I'm thinking thinner wheels are better for snow traction. Even with xDrive I'm not sure I want a 255 tire out back.

I have OEM staggered setup with 791M bi-colour wheels went with 19" Pirelli Sottozero 3 Non-Runflats.
We just had our first winter downfall yesterday and although not perfect, definitely helps with braking and accelerating. Still slips and slides, but better than All-seasons, drive with caution guys! I can't tell if there is any difference in driving when downsizing to 18". Any feedback on these Pirelli Sottozero 3 tires compared to Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 or Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4? Hi, so I have a G20 and I found a set of Pirelli Sottozero that are 245/50/r18, which were originally on an X3. I’m trying to figure out if they will fit? Or will it be too big for the G20?

I'd say too big. It's 6.44% bigger.

2020 BMW m340 xDrive
I don't intend on using the car much in the winter. Front 225/40-19 - kumho wintercraft wp72 Rear 255/35-19 - kumho wintercraft wp72 Wheels Front FastWheels FC04 8.5" +35 Wheels Rear FastWheels FC04 9.5" +35 Aftermarket TPMS (Take note there is two version of TPMS for G20 depending on your production date. I found out the hard way) The shop did 10 or 12 cars of the G20 model (mostly 2019), had no issue, with mine the shop had to re-install an updated version (gen2) of the aftermarket TPMS. I was expecting to RUN into issue with TMPS, and i did (but its solved) Last edited by bmw_md; 11-25-2019 at 06:54 PM.. |

Summer Setup: 20" 794M wheels with Pirelli P Zero PZ4 R-F tires in 225/35R-20 (front), 255/30R-20 (rear). The performance is really good on dry roads. With the Adaptive suspension, the ride is harsh in comfort mode and very harsh in sport modes.
Winter Setup: 19" 791M wheels with Pirelli Sottozero 3 R-F tires in 225/40R-19 (front), 255/35R-19 (rear). I was immediately shocked by how much smoother the ride is. In sport modes, the car now rides noticeably smoother than my summer setup does in comfort mode! I know it's a combination of the higher profile tires and the softer rubber of the winter tires but I'm not sure which one is having the greatest effect. I haven't had a chance to test the performance of the winter tires yet but for now I'm enjoying the smooth ride. |

Another OEM set up, just think these wheels suit the car so well! Huge thanks to Evan@Tischer and Jason@Tischer for this beautiful set up. I've shopped with them for over a decade and won't buy OEM parts anywhere else!

Here is my modest contribution.
Initially I did not expect to take a winter kit (no more money ) But finally I found these nice and not very expensive rims. Summer : Winter : It's not bad for my little G20 Rims Alkatec 8x18 ET30 and tire Nankang Snow SV3 225/45/18 with TPMS. |

Summer set-up:
Wheels: Style 795M 20''- Ferric Grey Gloss Milled (Bi Color) Tires: Pirelli P-Zero PZ4 RFT Tire Sizes: Front: 225/35R20 90Y XL | Rear: 255/30R20 92Y XL Winter set-up: Wheels: Style 791M 19" - Jet Black/Polished front Tires: Continental WinterContact TS 860S FR, XL, SSR Tire Sizes: 225/40 R 19 93V | 255/35 R 19 96V I might sound ridiculous, but with adaptive suspension I consider the grip and comfort on quite high level, the ride is not bumpy at all. |
