BMW please bring back the 6 Series!

I realize that the 8 Series Coupe was designed to be a race car 🏁 🏎💨, but the public two-door 8 Series is ridiculously unnecessary with Zero legroom in the back seats 💺 if you even want to call them that, but the four-door Grand Coupe works. Bigger is not always better, more wasted gas ⛽️ and the pricing is outrageous.

Looks too big to be a 4 series. Maybe due to the 8 series being too costly and not a big of a seller, they are making a new 6 series?

You raise excellent points, but the brand although still great for driving is also and probably the ultimate leasing machine. That said, the lease pricing on the even pricier 8 series leases as good, if not better than the old 6 series. Its just a change in nomenclature. The E63 6 series back seat was horrific as was the F12 6 series. If you've got 1000-1100/month to spare, an M8 is a great way to go.

Not just a change in numbering, ive ownerd 4 6ers, 2 from the E63 era and
the E63 S85 had a small but useable back seats, and weighed quite a bit less..and while u could have leased a ‘08 M6 for 1100, a 2020 M8comp is near double (though im sure they are trying to give em away now that sales have tanked). The 8er / M8 is a disaster plain and simple, starting with design...if they had kept the original nose design from the concept I would have gone for it but yet another bland looking car with a huge premium was a big no-no.

I can only hope they remake the 6er and drop the 8er, but Id want the new 6er to be a 2+2, rwd, be smaller than the 4er and in the 3500-3600 max zone and fully loaded (ie highest level of performane not the M and then M comp bs they pull now) and cost less than a 992S... They need a sports car design to ever be mentioned in the same sentence with a 911...That could bring back hope that the roundel still has a soul.

I really wish BMW would shore up their lineup. For those of us who Love the M4 Comp and M3 Comp there is nothing "next up" in the lineup that's similar. The M8/M5 don't drive like the M3/M4. Seems like after the M3/M4 you get a Porsche nothing in BMW lineup that's next up the ladder with great driving dynamics and lightish weight. Although I have owned many M's - M6's M5's M4's they were not step up vehicles. If someone wants a sporty vehicle over the M3/M4 BMW doesn't have it

I had a 2019 M5 and have driven the M8 comp extensively great cars but dynamically I preferred the M4 by a lot

Curious on your thoughts on the E63S, I felt like it had a bit more emotion/soul in it than the equivalent M5/8.

I'd say the M8Competition is aimed at the 911 Turbo (non-S).
Alpina really exists to offer a bmw alternative to the Turbo line. Even an M850 is too rough a rider for a turbo

I haven't driven an E63S. Drove AMG GT 63 S sedan which I loved. Def more involving

Yep, I drove an AMG GT4D as well (although for less time than the E63S) and it was also very good. I think MB just does the higher price point cars better, as well as the mid-size and large luxury class, not to mention AMG has been learning some tricks from BMW while M seems to be taking the Audi approach to their cars.

BMW needs to find a away to drop a V12 in the 8 series for a heritage sake even if it's a limited run 860csi for the highway.

Also, this is probably a hybrid of some kind testing. Probably not even going to make it into an 8 series for sale it's probably just a prototype in the 8 series because it's heavy enough to be a god test across the whole CLAR line

So is the engine under the cowl and in the cabin in this mule?

Slightly forward of where the CID would be in an 8er.

It won't be like that on the production car, will it? On the other hand, it would need a pretty nose for the entire motor to fit in the bay

Probably just like this for the mule since they don't want to reveal/don't have a prototype body to use. Production version will likely be similar to the AMG GT which also has a front-mid engine setup. A long hood with a short front overhang

Perhaps this is the 8 series with the transaxle it was initially planned as a production car that's used in the GTE race car variant?
