I really like the design of this car. Pity M4 xDrive release was pushed otherwise it would've been a replacement for my 540xi.

I just saw one at my local dealer. Was in for service.
Looks amazing in person. Honestly I’m more pissed on the way the executed the rear quarter over the front. The front looks excellent in person. It’s a huge car next to my m2 though, thats for sure |

Jesus, who the hell is driving the car? Literally the worst kind of BMW driver...
Watching him mashing down the iDrive controller was absolutely cringe worthy. Shifting the gear lever to sport then back to normal several times at the stop light only to take off on normal, handling of the steering wheel while turning like a soccer mom in a minivan...this better not be a sales person at a BMW dealer. All the tell tale signs of someone with road rage. 😂😂😂🤣 |

IIRC 4 series will be lower and longer and the lack of extra doors translates to slightly more body rigidity in turning. There will be basically no difference in acceleration but theoretically the 4 series will handle better. |

It went from thinking that Domagoj Dukec was being sarcastic when he said hell with tradition to thinking that Dukec is a covert spy from Audi or MB and trying to bankrupt BMW with literally the worst non-congruent design language in their history. BTW, many top car designers have commented on the fact that the front and rear of the 4 series don't speak the same language. |

I have an older 3 series and still like it very much but the new one gets me excited about maybe getting a new one too. Nothing wrong with previous Bimmers as we know that's how we all got here. |

Another way to look at design language is like wearing matching clothes. You may have an awesome shirt with great buttons and sleeves and collar. You may have awesome pants with a great zipper and tapered legs and cool pockets. But they don't match each other because they are completely different themes and shapes and styles. That's the new 4 series. But to each his own. Everyone has different style and tastes. Sometimes people wear mismatching clothes and it works for them. The F30/ F32 made the E90/ E92 look old, but the E90/ E92 are well designed cars, and even by today's standards, still look fresh and modern. Specifically the lci models.
If the design is good and "forward looking", it won't look too much outdated later imo

Huh? What in the world are you talking about? If you don't understand the basics of design symmetry in congruity, I'm not going to sit here and educate you. You're just trying to pick a fight and defend your decision on ordering this vehicle.

No, not looking for an argument, just asking... who the “many top designers” are that you referenced. I’d like to read or hear what they’ve apparently shared with you. There’s a difference between designers and bloggers.
I don’t need an education in automotive design, or to defend my purchase, as much as you should be able to defend your blanket statements when asked for the references. |
