M Performance Exhaust

Getting the M Performance Exhaust installed tomorrow. Excited to hear how it sounds as I have not heard much about it. I will make sure to post a clip with my phone once it's on tomorrow so you can hear how it sounds before and after the install.

Stock exhaust

Hey guys here is the sound clip after the install. Overall, I'd say it's about 30-40% louder than stock with more prominent burbles and pops. No drone whatsoever which was important to me as well. Recommend listening through headphones or a good speaker to really hear the difference.

Did you need any addtional parts outside of the tips and exhaust itself?

G20 3 Series M Performance Exhaust - 330i/iX
Product ID: 18-30-2-464-496

G20 3 Series M Performance Carbon Fiber/Titanium Tailpipe Trim Set - 330i/iX
Product ID: 18-30-2-464-500

Thanks! I think im going to go this route.

Nope just those two parts! It's comes with the mounting clip in the box. I had my local shop install the exhaust and the Burger wheel spacers for $140.

Definitely more bassy which is good just wished it shifted the 'fizziness' at the top end a bit more & I wonder if the difference would be as noticeable & as good on EU spec.

Thanks for posting

I'm getting H&R sport springs installed by the same installer next week so I'll have them take a look. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm looking to upgrade the exhaust. However, I can't stand the idea that I have to buy the CF tailpipe trim set. It is ridiculously expensive and I have no feelings for CF
For my F30, I paid only $900 for the exhaust and just a tiny bit for the dealer to install it. For my new G20, it's gonna be over 2k

I totally agree. Having to pay that much for the CF tips was ridiculous and made me feel like I was getting ripped off by BMW. Definitely a bad look on their part to force that additional purchase!

The worst part is: the G20's insulation is so good that I can barely hear any exhaust sound (in sport plus) unless I rev to 4k rpm and above. With the windows down, it sounds so good. With the windows up, nothing, nada

Btw, could you record the M Performance Exhaust sound inside the cabin with the windows up? I'm ready to pull the trigger. It's just that I'm afraid I won't notice much difference from inside the cabin .

As these tips are also sold separately as an accessory, shouldn't you be able to mount the original tips?

Nope. On Realoem, it says the exhaust must be in conjunction with the CF tips. On Bmwpartspro website, it says the tips are required. I also asked getbmwparts and they confirmed the same thing.
Maybe BMW don’t want to put the 2k$ price tag so they separate the parts. Shame on them

Ordered mine on getbmwparts, came to $2060 and change, free shipping. Arrives and getting installed next week. I was told only the CF tips, im sure a shop could make or fit some tips to fit the muffler if asked, not sure on the cost of that vs just going factory in the long run.

It wouldn't make any sense for them from a commercial point of view to say the regular tips fit just the same as their +500€/$ extra CF tips. But judging by this info, the parts are the same. So you got the 'mandatory' kit to be purchased in addition of the exhaust. Then you have the standalone CF tips for regular exhausts which fits all models (320i/d, 330i/d)
Might be worth the while for someone who's got the M Perf exhaust to try and slip on the normal tips

If the CF tips have a larger inner diameter, I'd like to know the exact size. I might get these on the Eisenmann exhaust if they'd fit (instead of their version).

If you want a huge difference from inside the cabin with windows up, I'm not sure the MPE is what you're looking for

I just ordered the exhaust without the CF tips. I'l try to fit it with the normal tips and report here

I'm not looking for a huge difference, just for some fun exhaust note during my daily driving

I will say that I can now hear some of the pops and cracks with my windows up. This was not at all possible before I got the exhaust put on. This is in Sport or Sport + mode. It's not super loud but I can definitely hear it and that is what I was going for. I didn't want an exhaust that would exhausting for me to listen to day in and day out. The only part that leaves me feeling not 100% satisfied is that they make you pay extra for the CF tips...
