2021 bmw m340

So since the 2021 340 can not be bench flashed yet to tune it , is it safe to run a downpipe, charge pipe & cold air intake without stage 2 tune ?

Why would you replace the charge pipe? The air to water intercooler and fixed position of the pipe make it highly unlikely to have the issues the N55/N54 engine had.

You can run a downpipe without a tune, but you will get a CEL. Cold air intake is not a problem but it would only help with intake sound, not performance.

I was wondering about the addition of a CAI on this car. Do you think Dinan is full of it regarding their new CAI for the M340i?

Probably? I couldn't say for sure. They probably have a dyno chart somewhere that "proves" what they're saying, however it practically probably doesn't do much. Modern OEM car intakes are designed very well these days. They almost always have a very short cold air intake path to maximize airflow and performance. They do however have baffling to tune the acoustics so if that is all taken out, it could improve airflow slightly. However, it will most likely only be at the extreme high rev ranges. For $450 the carbon fiber trim and louder intake noise might be worth it to you. People pay thousands more for catbacks that pretty much only improve sound so why not?

I just purchased the Dinan intake. Not buying it for whatever gains they posted. It's more for under the hood eye candy and the improved sound. If there happens to be an increase in hp/tq I would consider that a bonus.
