Updating head unit on unlocked ecu?

So I’m getting the LCI M HUD coded into my car but he says my firmware is too old. If he only updates my head unit, will my ecu lock

You can safely update the HU_MGU without relocking the DME2.
Just need to be sure to uncheck the DME2 when updating ;-)
