Just FYI the M fender badges are part of the M sports package. You can order a 318i with M package and it will come with those fender badges from factory, except in the US of course.
So with regards to the original thread where this was taken out of context, it is not the case of sticking an M badge on a non M car. |

The b58/s58 and the v8 in the m550 vs m5 aren't that different anymore. The transmissions are the same zf8. None of them are all that special and BMW puts those badges on from the factory even on m-sport cars outside of the US |

It is a completely different car from the standard version, different feel, handling, and so on. It is not about Speed, or looks or sound but all other details. The 6MT in my M3 is a completely different transmission from my previous 335i. The B58 and S58 are completely different machines. Just like N55 and S55 were. Even the brakes feel different even though I had M brakes on both of my last two vehicles. I would be surprised if they use the same identical ZF8 in both cars. A completely different car. After owning an F80, I just placed the order on a M340i. I drove it over the weekend to get the feel for all little details. And yes, the two have very little in common, totally different experiences. I loved the F80 and have not used it the way it is begging to be used. So, step in a different direction (not a step down)... |

An M3 is a 3 series with extensive upgrades, at the expense of some comfort and usability. It is not a McLaren F1. And yes, I've had several. In fact, over the years they have pushed M models further towards the harder end - I guess customer feedback is 'BECAUSE RACECAR'. Besides, the M badge is on 116is and up everywhere else in the world and denotes a bodykit - so you probably just need to get past it... |

If you order the Sport or Luxury Package, you get a "Sport" or "Luxury" text logo as fender badge. You can option to debadge them. |

Why don't you try to invest $20k into "upgrades" of a 340 and see if you are going to get an M. Definitely not... But again, you are totally missing the point of the thread -- badges. My point is that the less, the better (including on M cars). The other poster likes to add more "///M" badges to the car because it has M-Performance pieces... And that is it. Personal preference on both sides. I don't see the reason a "Civic" would not add an "///M" if they for example put a few M-performance pieces on the car? Maybe a stick shifter and brake pads -- it has the M-performance pieces so go wild with the badges? |

Wow. You really are a total waste of time. I guess you’re on a mission to belittle anyone who fundamentally disagrees with your ridiculous argument. Yeah I’m done. Enjoy flogging a horse that died ten years ago. 👍😀🤘
