JB4 on G20 320i (184HP) Impression

Hi, I installed my JB4 with v16 firmware a few months ago but never made it to do a few 0-100 km/h (LAUNCH CONTROL) runs till last weekend. All runs were done on the same road from a same starting point. And I have four 19'' Rays G025 forged rims with Michelin PS4S tires, a BMC air filter and a full tank of 98RON fuel.

statistics:
1. Map 0 (stock map)- LC - 7.4s
2. Map 2 (around 4psi over stock) - LC - 6.73s
3. Map 3 (around 6psi over stock) - LC - 6.45s

I have to say I'm quite surprised and excited with these numbers for a 184HP version engine.

PS: I also have a B48B20B engine and BMW etk shows that the part number of my engine is totally the same as the one on 330i. It seems like that in early 2019 all 320i models were also manufactured with B48B20B engines and in later 2019, they were replaced with B48B20A or B48B20D engines.

A 1s improvement is excellent when you consider its “only” a piggyback. I love my JB4 too. Do you get E85 fuel there?

And what app did you use in your screenshot? Also, for the LC run shown, what does the JB4 connect app say the 0-60 time is (from the logs)?

Yes, I've been recommending every person having a G20 around me buy a JB4 recently lol. No we do not have E85 fuel in China (at least no E85 in where I live, Shanghai).

I used a performance meter called P-Gear in my screenshot, which is just like Racelogic Pbox or Dragy that you guys use more often. And I forgot to do a log in my JB4 app when doing those runs.

You don't need to log manually. In my app, it automatically logs when throttle is more than a certain percentage. There's an option in settings in the app (settings > app settings > logging settings). The WOT autolog threshold (pedal) in mine is set to 70%. So it autologs even if the app is open but sent to the background and another app is running instead.

Thank you! I just checked and found that my autolog is on and the threshold is also 70% but I guess even if it's "auto"log, I still have to open the JB4 app right?

Yes. You have to open the app. But you can let it run in the background if you want to run another app in the foreground. If you don’t open the app, it won’t log runs.

Garage List
2020 BMW 320i  [0.00]
I've installed JB4 today replacing German CPA power box. After short testing I have to admin that JB4 is much better
With map0 (stock) turbo hardly pushes over 10psi.
With map1 the car pulls noticeably harder than with CPA piggy back. Map2 and Map1 both are giving me about the same results by feelings and also logs. Turbo boost peaks are hitting about 21psi.
That is impressive but much more than expected over stock setting. I have only RAL95 in the tank now.
I've noticed strange turbo sound on Map2 when hitting hard and releasing gas. It doesn't sound healthy. Maybe because of the MST cold intake kit.
I am not happy with JB4 installation instruction which is showing opposite plugs for G series and also support is not the best. But product seems to be nice so far
I am looking forward for 0-100 times and logs. I have E85 here as well so it might bring a lot of fun to my 320i with "shitty" B48C engine. Let's see if Germany can notice remotely by collecting FASTA data what I've done to turbo values.

For me, map 2 and 3 showed similar max boost values. They also felt the same. I've never tried map 1 but now I want to.
With your logs, what times do you get for 0-60mph and 0-100mph?
And I used the JB4 installation video on youtube for my 330i and I didn't have any issues. And support is fantastic here. I mailed Ando directly and he would get back to me ASAP. I was shocked at how fast he'd respond. And you can get help from other members on N54tech.
I run an approximate E27-E30 blend in my car and performance in the winter was amazing. It's still very good now but it's very hot here so I don't push my car much. Been constant 90 degree days here and it has had an effect on performance.

From first I'd say pretty normal

post some logs if you are worried

I'm also looking for 4th gear pull logs from people with 20i engines. I "discovered" weird throttling behavior on my 20i car where the ECU partially cuts throttle unprovoked in 4th and 5th ~ 90mph (I can only presume it would also do this in 6th-8th but I don't have the power to get to 5k rpm in those gears =D)
