Hello guys! I need help with my G20. So my welcome lights are not coming on when I approach my car. BMW say the BDC need to recoded because it was cause by my aftermarket ambient centre console that I installed. Is that sound correct? They scan the car and no error codes, so I don’t know what else to do. BMW claim even if BDC recode they will not come back on.

Can anyone help please or should I go to another dealership?

If it was just a plug and play ambient lighting it shouldn't affect your welcome light. If you messed around in Bimmercode...then possible. Try turning the welcome light on/off in your idrive settings.

Okay I never mess with it and don’t do any coding on the interior lights also. It’s a plug and play nothing crazy. BMW just never wanted to unplug it while they programming the car for a new key fob. So they even went ahead and buy new BDC and still program the car with ambient smh. So now the BDC doesn’t cover under warranty.

Yes perfectly for 3 years without any issues. I pick up the car today and everything is working now with my centre console ambient lighting. After they told me that my welcome lights won’t again smh. They fuck me over and order new BDC but I had to pay for it.

Sounds like a bunch of BS. I would go to another dealership and not mention anything about the Centre console ambient lighting. Return it to stock and try another dealer.

If your car is out of warranty, find a good Indy dealer.

Exactly! I already book an appointment with another dealership for tomorrow. Car is still under warranty and I also purchased extended warranty. Cheers
