Transition to G80 M3 from F80 M3 with help of G30
I have been using M550i as a daily for over 16 months now. It has been such a great everyday car when I am not using my Tahoe, so much so that my F80 has not seen that much action. I came close to get rid of F80 on several occasions but every time I took it out, I changed my mind. My F80 is 6spd, '15, YMB with carbon roof. Very simple yet very fun to drive. It is so fun that I probably won't need to look at G80.
Then came this evening. While sitting in my trusty M550i, I realized what a fun luxury car it was. I was telling myself that if a new G80 is anything like this or better, it will be one awesome car. I decided to take driver's perspective view of steering wheel and instrument clusters. I hope G80 AWD has characteristic of RWD on high end of RPM range. My M550's powerband tends to drop of after 5800-6000 rpm. Anyhow, I can't wait to drive the new G80. Until then, my lowly F80 will do. |

A lot of people despise the 5 series semi digital analog dials. but I love it so much more than the new live cockpit. This is just so classy and not cheesy imo. And I always thought BMW should follow classy and not cave in to the new digital trend.

I am going back to G80 from F90... need the MT plus I want to take it to a track as much as I can.
M5 is brutally fast, with all the modes I had it to 850HP and It's also great DD. Looks like the X3M took Instrument cluster from M5 which I like a lot I don't think that would be the case for G80

I'm going to get something new in a year or so and struggling with all the options. I've had a couple F80s and it was a fantastic daily driver and fun track car. I went to a '16 M6 GC Comp which was beautiful, sounded great and brutally fast. It just wasn't as much fun to flick around on the street and one day at Buttonwillow was enough for me to realize that wasn't the environment for it. I will be daily driving my next car and hoping to track it every couple months. M5 would be more badass on the street but less fun on track .. also like $40k more... tough call. May have to do an M performance day and try it on track to see how I really feel about it...
