They blamed the stiffness on the Track Handling package. Buying the "Track" package on any car these days is just a way of spending lots of money to have your kidneys pounded to jelly on most US roads.

When will we see a test of a BMW/Mercedes/Jaguar/Audi that a normal human would buy? Probably never. It's just not how the corporate press fleet manager thinks.

Yeah they did, but the F30 was usually chided for being too soft so the fleet manager is probably like just give them the sportiest version

I have seen many other reviewers say the car is stiff, consumer reports had a sport line model they complained about and redline reviews said he noticed it, but didn't mind, but does think others may be annoyed. I didn't find the 330i I drove at the Ultimate Driving Experience too stiff, but then again I rode with a friend in an old E83 X3 which is known for having the a "bone-shattering ride" so my judgement may have been influenced

ive come from a much more stiffly sprung car admittedly, though i find my 330i, even with the dampers on the sport setting, not aggressive at all. I think its perspective.

Ill be going to 20 inch wheels, at that stage it will probably feel stiff.

Their review said overall it's a sort of fun car, but the video said it doesn't live up to expectations.

Will just have to drive it myself. I got an X1 loaner just now and while the steering weighs up in turns (video-game feeling) it's dead on center. I'd imagine the new 3-series is no different. Better than the F30 but still not even close to the good old days.

I call bullshit, i have a 330i with adaptive and 19" runflat and its not too stiff. The chassi is more rigid but the suspension is better than any previous 3-series msport. The steering in sport is also very well wheighted i would say, not far from E90 feel in my opinion. This dead spot im hearing, its not there like the F30's crappy steering feel. I would suggest to check tirepressure if you feel this as my car was delivered with way too low pressure, 2,5bar front and 2,7 rear. Im running 2,9 front and 3,1 rear and it makes a huge difference.

People will whine about the suspension being too stiff and the next generation, or lci, will then be softened, and everyone will then whine that bmw has "lost its edge". This is what happened between the e90 and f30.

If you find a stiff suspension too uncomfortable, do yourself and everyone else a favor, and shop for a nice, soft, comfy suv instead. Your local Lexus dealer probably has something that will make you happy. There's nothing wrong with that. Just go with what you like instead of expecting a car to excel at cornering flat, and maximally buffering you from bumps and road imperfections.

Oh, and MT reviews have become kind of a joke.

AutoExpress tested a European 330i which has a "Sport Plus Package" which may be equivalent to a US package. It has adaptive dampers, and looks to be riding on 18inch wheels. They did say the ride was firm, but still settled and comfortable enough but still more comfortable than the S60 they were comparing it too.

Honestly I could not care less what reviewers say or feel about this car. I had an E90 LCI with Bilstein B8 shocks, M sport springs, M3 control arms, M3 subframe bushings and after I drove several BMW models the G20 with M sport and 19 " was very close in sportiness to my E90.

So if you want something to upgrade from E90 that still drives and handles like a sport saloon, G20 M sport is a car I definitely recommend

Exactly! Don’t spoil it for the rest of us. There are plenty of VAG sedans to choose from

I test drove the 330I M sport without adaptive suspension and didn't notice any stiff ride as they claim. If they want soft, get a scamry. I would not consider the G20 without the M sport package.

I drove an E46 sedan and nearly slammed back in the day for more than a decade daily and hardly ever complain of stiffness. The G20 suspension is just right , not too soft or too hard. I know roads play some role but where I live and drive, the roads are good.

The review units are always going to be ridiculously optioned so that the reviewers can try all the features.

You can easily build a 330i with a more than decent feature set for high 40s.

Somebody needs to explain to me, like I’m an 8year old, how a locking diff, upgraded brakes, and non RFT summer performance tires makes a suspension/ride more stiff??

Hasn't this been the complaint since forever?!?! Heck, I even remember people complaining that the E46 ///M's and non-///M's were too stiff for daily driving.

I had an E46M3, and in my opinion, it wasn't just too stiff, it was harsh.. My wife got carsick in it and many other people who rode in it commented on how uncomfortable it was for a passenger. My E92 335i w/Sport was "firm" but not harsh, and was a much better DD.

...and to me, I daily drove both of my E46 ///M3's (..one with TEIN coilovers) and never thought the cars were too stiff or harsh in either stock or modified form. It just goes to show you that everybody's definitions of ride quality aren't the same.

It wouldn't be as much of an issue if our states and municipalities used our tax dollars to do their jobs and keep the roads in acceptable condition. Forget about driving comfort, or sporty cars with stiff suspension, in some regions roads are bad enough to cause significant damage to automobile tires and suspension. Some roads can actually be hazardous to travel on, even in the best conditions. I've had friends and colleagues from overseas come here (Boston area) and express astonishment that roads in an industrialized nation could be so poorly maintained.
