Agree... CCBs, frozen or individual paint, a few m performance port installed goodies should be able to hit 90, maybe 100 with individual interior

I don't think $90-100k will be impossible to achieve, but I would expect many to be $75-85k MSRP still, hopefully.

I can definitely envision the "this is what a $100k G80 looks like" thread on the homepage though. Individual e'rything.

I guess it is safe to assume that the 2020 M3 (G80) will cost at least $15,250 more than the G20 M340i, which starts at $56,995. This brings the hypothetical price of the G80 to at least $72,245 and the Competition model around $79,245.

For Europe this means that the pricing for G80 will most probably be around 86 694 euro and the Competition model will set you back approximately 95 094 euro, including VAT.

This is all purely hypothetical but it seems plausible although this would mean that the new M3 would cost about $5,745 more than the current M3.
And the CS will be 105k. Lol.

That's what I'm thinking too. An X3M Competition with executive package & metallic color is around $82k MSRP so that's what I'm budgeting for an M3 Competition at this time.

Depending on option packages (heard something about more carbon without having to go M performance) I'm thinking $75k - $85k for most builds without individual paint.

I'm thinking maybe $77k for a decently-optioned RWD + 6MT "base" and $85k for a decently-optioned AWD + AT M3 Comp

Wasn't the M4 slightly higher than the M3 though? So there's a chance the M3 will be under $69k but I'm guessing $69k to match the X3M.

X models have always outpaced their sedan/coupe equivalents when it comes to pricing. Specifically the X3/X3M vs 3xx/M3. I'm expecting the M3 to come in $2k-$3k under that $69k number.

Good luck finding a dealer who's willing to give up an allocation on a 'PURE' or stripped model in the first year though.

That sounds like an accurate estimate for the AWD version. For the RWD, I would expect a little bit less of a gap (especially RWD vs M-xDrive). I'd think it's safe to assume that the manual version will not be any cheaper than the automatic, however.

In 2016, the M5 was around 96k MSRP, while the M3 started at around 63k.

For 2020, the M5 starts at $102,700. This is a 6.5% increase.

Similar math would put the M3 at around $67,000 which I would say sounds very reasonable, especially considering the base M3 should have a manual *(though that probably won't cost less than the auto if the F80 is a good way to gauge that) and RWD, vs the M5 having xDrive and an auto. That means $69,000 would probably be a decent estimate, rather than the 65k that you were responding to

I would expect the manual to be cheaper. As far as I know manual BMWs have always been cheaper than auto versions. Unless the MT has additional use of CF and alu in the chassis of course but I really doubt it. BMW will milk that baby with special versions as a CS.

It's been cheaper on M3's with DCTs, but the same price as automatics on the regular 3/4

Good point since we’re not sure where the M version of the ZF fits in that equation.

What is the consensus around pricing for the G80 base and competition? How much do you think xdrive will add to that?

The upside is that M cars don't have the same number of packages and options as non-M cars. So, a loaded M3 comp should come out to 80-85k. Going with Individual Paint plus CF trim, CC brakes and MP parts I can see the car reaching 100k.

I am hoping I can get into a M3 automatic, rear wheel drive for about 75k msrp. I don't need a special color or a need for driving professional. Also hoping dealer will discount car 10% pre-incentive. I had my mind set on a M340i but if the numbers work, I will get M3.

By "give up," I assume you mean at a discount? Or do you mean without a markup?

On that note, how long after pure models start hitting lots do you expect dealers to stop markups and sell at MSRP? How long until they're willing to offer discounts?

Traditionally, what % off MSRP could one even expect to get on an M3 (at a time well after initial production)?

Were 10% discounts on prior versions of the M3 common? Was that the most one could hope to get? Trying to get a sense of how negotiable these cars are over standard non-M BMWs.
