2016 X3 HUD works with polarized Sun Glasses

On my 2016 X3 The HUD works with polarized Sun Glasses. Its about half as bright as without--as one would expect, but clearly visible. Great feature. Love the speed limit signs and the speed of vehicle. I have found lots of 25 and 35 mph sections at the end of 50 mph roads, that I never knew about before. It will save me a ticket or so per year.

On mine, it displays speed, speed limit, cruise set, and Nav.

Seem like BMW try to develop a supportive driving system and then a automotive driving system.

That is exactly why I do opt or ask for a speed dependable HUD system !!

Low speed driving, HUD focus in front end of the car, so seeing all pedestrians !

High speed driving, HUD focus far in front of the car, so seeing all slow speed Autobahn drivers in time

Maui Jim fan here. This is awesome and all, but BMW needs to figure out how to make the HUD compatible with polarized sunglasses. Transparent OLED maybe?

I guess not for the hard-core performance type drivers, just like it is not introduced to F1 helmets, one danger with head-up display is obstacle on the tarmac, can be missed easily.

It works fine on my '16 X3 D, about half as bright as w/o. As you would expect. I heard early ones did not.

+1 for hoping they find a way to make it work flawlessly w/ polarized glasses.

I wonder if this is going to trickle down to the '17 4-series. With BMW's shift to modular parts across cars, one would imagine that eventually the HUD module in the 7 series will be the same as the same HUD for the 3/4 series (I used to consult for the company that manufactures the HUD for BMW, ironically) we'll see this in newer builds.

Is it possible to get RPMs in a non-M car's HUD?

+1 polarized sunglasses make it practically invisible in bright daylight.

Based on the other european vehicles I've had a chance to drive, BMW makes one of the best HUDs in the market.

I can only hope they'll update the i8's HUD software to mimic that of either the new 7 or M series cars.
