There are third party tie-in apps which let you do it. I do this all the time. Click on Google Maps location, share to Send to Car app, click OK on default settings, and it's done.

Compared to BMW Remote, the new app doesn't have the timer for ventilation (meh) and the vehicle locator (sometimes important). Until the latter is added, Remote will have to remain installed.

How? Without a separate third party app as someone above mentioned. I don't think it is possible with the Google Maps app alone

wow...I'm still waiting on my M2 to deliver as my very first bmw. I didn't realize that bmw was this far behind. I've had this on my '15 escalade since day one. The OnStar remote link app is beautifully executed. I hope this app can compete.

Well the is what GM cars can do apps, but BMW you will have a car with not so good apps

There has been the BMW remote app that has been out for years. This new app doesn't seem to be a full replacement for that but more of an companion app for the navigation. Makes the navigation a lot easier to use. It also has an option to chose between apple and Google to assist the navigation. The BMW remote app still has a few more features like vehicle locator. The original BMW connected app is completely different and seems not related. That app was more media and social media focused like you can listen to radio stations around the world etc. I hope this helps. I'm waiting on my M2 as well!

When, When? All the domestics have remote start. Why in the world cant we have it? It is so maddening to walk to your car with folks and they all have remote start with cars costing half as much and I still dont?

It is getting old fast. Love the car but feel like BMW nickle and dimes you to death with everything! (Just venting, but seriously!) It kind of follows the whole "the car is sattelite radio prepped,) but you have to pay hundreds for some code and turn on and servicing and.......

It just works and always works. Even if I'm already in the car and send the location, it takes just a minute for the car to receive it.
The last error I saw was like 3 months ago. It has worked perfectly since.

I'll give you send location to car is useful, but you have to use the app every day to lock your car?? How are you that forgetful?

Not to mention if you wanted to use the app to unlock the car is required a call to BMW and talking to a real person to prove your identity.

I don't dislike it, it works 99% of the time, it takes awhile if the car is in the garage though.

Sometimes I will send the "horn" to it while I am at the bar and the car is home just to freak the wife out!

I also have a TOYOTA and their app works pretty slick but it connects by Bluetooth. Does not require 3G.
