BimmerCode is able to code this on the G05, should be doable on the G20 as well, but I haven't tried it myself yet.

The ASS button is in the center console, near the engine start/stop button.

I hate that we have to resort to coding for some govt regulation that should be managed by common sense... duh if you turn ASS off and your car idles at stop lights it will use more gas.

Seems much more sensible that the sticker just calls out mpg with all efficiency systems on or we get a "lawyer warning" that disabling ASS can lead to higher consumption.

This is not a BMW thing it's an EPA thing that has infected all brands

you are spot on. my wife's 440 remembers it and it works for everyone. It was no need to change it.

That s not the only regulation that is degrading the experience. Laser lights is another example. One pays 2K for them in exec package and gets totally shafted by USA regulations (Have it on the X5 and those features don't work with no hope for coding them out)

- laser lights are limited to 300m in US instead of 600m
- Bedazzle feature is disabled in US so brights do not come on adn bend around traffic
- Cornering lights are disabled in US

All features available and advertised on those Laser lights

Is the auto start stop any less intrusive on the g20?
On the earlier F series it used to shake the car on start up, I heard they improved it on the later cars.
One of the reason I turn it off.

Less shake, but sometimes turns off sooner than complete stop.

Nothing that a little coding can't fix.

xlover , Ilyam5 ,

Completely agree with both of you!

The ASS feature is one of the dumbest things anyone ever created and to cripple features because of some "big brother" rules -- hell, driving through an unlit neighborhood with high beams on and another car approaches, common courtesy says dim your lights, we don't need regulations for that.

Oh well, that why Bayer invented aspirin -- besides am sure we'll be able to work around some of them thanks to coding (I did that on my F30 for both ASS & cornering lights)

That is lame that they went back to ASS being on every time. My LCI remembers last setting. Guess my next car will have to be performance model 3, no shake and no gas rather than trying to save a few drops here and there.

Yes, the ASS defaults to "always on" in my 2019 G01 X3 as well. I will say that I find the ASS to be much less intrusive and more refined than in my previous F30. I actually don't mess with the setting any more, I don't find it that bad.

As a future buyer of g20/g80-something, quick question?
2k for laser lights and they only work with High Beams, the ones that we all use 5 minutes a year?

Better question... Why post this in the auto/stop start thread?

I use high beams all the time, but I have them coded for NGHB.

I picked up my new 330xi a few weeks ago and Auto Start Stop is driving me nuts. How do I go about changing the programming?

Need to find out if Bimmercode works with G20, I hear yes and no depending on where you read.
You can always ask bimmercode info@bimmercode.app

Personally the main reasons for me to buy bimmercode was that idiotic ASS and ASD

Same way it is done on other G-series. Bimmercode and E-sys will change coding.

I received a response from Bimmercode that confirms this works on the new 2019 3 series.

I am buying a OBD adapter and their app today.

Thanks!
