Only real M's have a break-in service. Additionally, launch control is available immediately with non-M's. If BMW was concerned about break-in's on non-S spec motors they would have built in a safeguard against LC prior to XXXX miles. These are run of the mill motors, light it up as soon as you get it. |

I still broke mine in...Sorta. I'd say about 80% normal and 20% hard during the first 1,000 miles.

Taken from the handbook:
Do not use Launch Control during the > break-in period (defined as Up to 1200 miles) for the Engine, transmission, and axle drive; 200 miles for the Tires, 300 miles for the brakes; with same break-in periods for any replaced components (brakes, tires, etc.) Why give us an M340I with power that we can't fully utilized as we would like on the streets without risking jail. Perhaps top speed should be 75MPH eh. Your argument is bullocks.

Even so, launch control applications don't usually involve reaching rpm beyond 4500. Launch control is about quick acceleration, and higher rpm from a dig can detract from this by way of wheel spin (yes, xdrive cars have the same launch control as rwd as far as I know). |

I just got one today. Was gonna get a 2019 540i but that blue 2020 M340i in the showroom got the best of me. The digital dash is awesome. Don't know why people hate it.
no break in, just started giving it the beans from the dealership drive home.

I just don't want to see any fluids leaking onto my garage floor and I especially don't want to be spending any unnecessary time at the dealership. |
