Canon Xsi/Xti also have the built-in wireless to control flashes I believe?

I have one of those wireless add-on that goes with 580EX II and I can control the 580EX II wirelessly. so can I use that? I AM controlling the light from a different angle as I take the photo.. does this count?

I am somewhat confused on the criteria...

I'm going to submit this photo. I controlled the lighting by the timing that I took this picture.

Sara, I'm sorry but this does not follow the rules. You did not control or modify the light. The rules state you can't just set the exposure.
Hope you can submit something else. :]

No only the new 7D has the built-in wireless flash control out of all Canon's DSLR.

So by saying "natural light is okay as long as you are controlling it or modifying it in some way". Controlling it like keeping the shutter speed long? Almost all my shots I take are without flash and I rarely add more light to it in Photoshop.

"keeping the shutter speed long" is controlling the EXPOSURE. this is about controlling the LIGHT. huge difference.

Controlling the light has nothing to do with the shutter speed or aperture! You need to bounce the light, use a mirror, diffuse it somehow, use a window screen, put objects in front of a light to generate shadow patterns, etc etc etc. Don't have a fancy flash or monolight? Use a shop light, flash light or whatever you have handy.

This is about getting out of your comfort zone or rut, and it isn't about finding a loophole either. Good grief people!!

does this count...i think it's blown out on top but i'm too lazy to retake. I just grabbed my son's toy and a led flash light and a piece of white paper to reflect on the legs
