330e iDrive 7.0 Instrument Cluster Blackout

Hello

Anyone with experience on Instrument Cluster Blackout? Have a 1st October registered 330e with 1000 miles on the clock and experienced an Instrument Cluster Blackout whilst driving over Exmoor late this evening. Not tried anything yet to see if a power cycle fixes the issues, but does anyone have any experience of similar and what was done to rectify.

Many thanks

Happened to me twice. Locked the car & on return an hour later, all back to normal. Occasionally the sat nav in the instrument cluster goes nuts and moves around the country randomly

The same thing happened to my M340i after only 350 miles on Friday morning - screen when completely blank. Took it into dealer but when I brought salesman out to look at the problem, the car had sorted itself out an all was back to normal.

Dealer put it down to an automatic software upgrade! However i will be keeping an eye on it.

It sounds like you've got it in "Dominic Cummings" mode.

I had this issue with my previous car, a 530e. I took it to the dealer, they updated the software, and problem solved. Never happened again.

Only the most naive person would believe that. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether I'm referring to the sat nav or Dominic Cummings.

I experienced this earlier in the week, coupled with a few other warnings, collision assist, lane assist. Went into the dealers Thursday yet to receive a proper update from the service manager, as the customer service is shocking, looking after it, however I called this morning, the technician has requested a replacement cluster, which is yet to be ordered.

Anyone any experience on the timescales of replacing this?

G21 330e, 3 weeks old, 1800 miles.. to say I'm pissed is an understatement.

Before Covid replacement parts were commonly 2-5 working days. Covid has changed this so its now all over the map. Dealer should be able to give you details on whether the part is available in UK if it has to be sent from Germany, and if so, whether it's in stock at parts depot.

Sorry, didn't realize your location.

Why would he care if it's available in the U.S. when his location says "North Wales"?

Mine has been at the dealers for 1 week, software was already at the latest version so they raised a case with BMW Technical Support.

Usual questions came back, has a dash cam ever been fitted, tracker, etc.

Anyway, the dealer was pleased to advise me that Germany had agreed to replace the instrument cluster, probably cos they will back charge them many ££££ for the labour in doing so.

48 hour turnaround is what I was told and I should have it back Friday or Monday latest.

Interesting, I'm calling into the dealers tomorrow to collect some bits from the car since I've still not got a confirmed date for a new part from Germany. I'll be quoting this and chasing whats going on.

Lodged a complaint with BMW UK today, I've not once had a proactive call explaining what's going on, have been chased for the return of the courtesy car which happened to get reversed into outside our offices yesterday, and feel not 1 single person I've spoken to has a sense of what's going on, and to think BMW are a premium brand, have much better service from our local Ford Dealer who look after our fleet of vans and Skoda who my last 3 cars have been with, a disappointing start to my first ever BMW.

What dealer are you using?

My cars been in with BMW for around a week now for some issues which I said my system is due a software update and can this be done at the same time as the other work.

4 days later I get a call from the service manager saying that can they do the update at my next service. (In 3000 miles)

So you want me to bring my car back in when it’s currently still in your workshop having work done?

The service manager didn’t even know my car is currently with him/them.

Admittedly it doesn’t fill you with much confidence.
