What about BMW making a big stink about not using "their" concentrated washer fluid? I had a problem with my wife's X3's washer pumps. They told me the only reason they replaced them for free was because I used their fluid.

Yup. Genuine BMW washer fluid only. Have heard of many vehicles having problems with clogged filters.

On a side note regarding RainX. Anybody know how to completely get that crap off a windshield? Had the car washed in MTL and they put RainX on the windshield, and not even well. GAH! Now the wipers skip and make all sorts of noise.

Have heard of a BMW bulletin stating to use Bon Ami 1886 powder.

http://www.garageboy.com/bmw/bonami.html

Can not find it in Canada. Any other options?

Gtechniq G4 is supposed to be able to get it off. It's used during the prepping stuff anyway. You'll be surprised how much crap is embedded in the glass that even a claybar will miss.

And a PITA to change. I can get genuine BMW fluid for $3/gallon. Why use anything else.

The Rain X makes me use my wipers a whole lot less. On highways when raining, I don't even use my wipers.

The idea of this thread is there's way better products than RainX on the market now. Not only does it tend to leave residues, it makes wipers have chatter.

Products like Gtechniq G1/2 will last way longer (up to 2 years) with better overall performance than RainX. This is a nano coating the actually bonds to the glass.

A cheap but not as durable coating would be a quality polymer sealant ("wax").

Funny you mentioned gt techniq. I have used there crystal serum and exo. I still have some left and might be worth a shot to try it on the windshield.
