Had my G21 320i for a year now and a big resounding YES to buying again.

Modern, refined, spacious, good looking and fun to drive all in one.

Definitely would buy again. After 18 years of ownership of an E39 530i Sport I was delighted with my M340i. Gorgeous car, just as roomy and comfortable as the E39, great tech and amazing performance. The only issue I've had is a creaky sunroof which the dealer was able to fix with specific lube in one day.

I would by another M440i (if all options I want are available) as long as it has the iDrive 7 instrumentation.
No problems and it is still solid after 1 1/2 year of ownership.
I will not by with an "upgraded" iDrive 8.

I’m happy with my 330i G21 but doubt I could afford another new one. Prices are mental.

Exactly what I did, not wanting iDrive 8. Whilst the discount was pretty much non existent at least it was before the latest wave of price increases which I assume has been applied to the G22 models as well as the G20/21 as I haven’t looked at the website recently.

Maybe/maybe not.. This is my first BMW and although I like the car the service from both BMW and the dealers is absolute rubbish compared to the Skoda/ VAG dealer network..

I get the impression the dealers think they are above every other manufacture and seem to treat customers like something they stepped in..

I agree. The service isn't what I was expecting either. I called my supplying dealer to get an idea how much 4 new tyres would be. After taking my phone number etc, the woman on the phone said "they are busy, so may not be able to call back". I assumed she meant that day, but that was 2 weeks ago.
This was my first BMW and I definitely won't be buying another.

This is my first BMW after 20 years driving Seat and Skoda, the dealer network were excellent, always had good service, great prices for service and repairs and I got well looked after, in fact they all went beyond my expectations.

I do love the BMW but feel I may be going back to Skoda again... shame the dealer lets things down.. although all very polite, helpful and bent over backwards when they wanted my £33K last year!

I've had the opposite. When I ran a VW the local dealer was shocking. Whereas my local BMW dealer, although not perfect, is miles better than the VW outfit.

I guess it depends where you live and who the local marque franchisee is.

Strangely enough two local VW dealers couldn't find a fault my wife had on her Mk.5 Golf GTi which led her to go back to BMW as she lost confidence in the car and that was in 2012.

The BMW dealer I have been with for the past (almost) 20 years and the one she is obviously with now since 2012 have in general been excellent when it comes to servicing and parts, not so much sales recently but that's another story. There are however a number of BMW dealers 'locally' say within a 30 mile radius who quite frankly are shocking and I wouldn't entertain using them, but it's like you said a lot depends on where you live in relation to good, bad or indifferent dealers and I personally think the quality of the staff they have working at those dealerships has a lot to do with it.

Over the years I have tried out other dealers on occasions but have always ended up going back to my current preferred one.

If you find a 'good one' then you feel the product is good too the trick is, I suppose, finding a good one?

My experience In BMW main dealers over the past five years is that the car salespeople are only interested in the sale, don’t put any value in repeat custom and have zero interest in after sales care.

Contrast that to my local dealer who do my servicing - BMW Hailsham - who are outstanding. Despite that I am yet to buy a car from them!

I'm interested to know would you buy a 3 Series again ? As who best to ask than current owners...

Any reasons why you wouldn't buy the G20 this time ?

I was holding off to see what the new Mercedes C Class would be like - but something about the interior I just don't like - seems to busy..

Thanks,

In answer to your question. Yes, but I'd get the touring.

No. More problems than I can shake a stick at. It’s spent 6 months off the road in my 2 year tenure. Left me stranded twice roadside. Once at home. May be it is a lemon. I cannot see past the faults now and it’s basically a garage queen because I still can’t decide what to replace it with.

Yes probably….
Re the comments on service; like every industry customer service is on the decline for various reasons across the whole economic spectrum.
A lot depends purely on the dealer and their attitude and not the brand.
My experience of VAG is the worst I’ve ever had( including near fraudulent activities to complete incompetence.
Believe it or not the best service from any brand has been Alfa in the 33 years I’ve been driving; and by some margin.

Very similar situation to me - I’ve bought 3 different cars (1 new and 2 nearly new AUC’s) in 5 years from different dealers with wildly different experiences. My local dealer - LLoyd Newcastle do all my servicing and they are fantastic. If I do buy another BM then it’s going to be from them.

For performance that matches it's looks and price (and doesn't get you embarrassed by every stupidly powerful SUV/EV) I would want a 330e, but the boot is too small, so then a 330i...

However with the equipment it should really have as standard it then becomes a £55k car...

It's lovely to drive, I've never had any mechanical issues and pre LCI is one of the nicest looking cars BMW make

And whilst it might be sad, the boot isn't big enough for a main family car, my wife's 4 GC has a smaller boot but the hatchback means you can actually get more in!

So £55k for a second car...nope

G21 solves the small boot of the G20 330e.

Yes. Or at least yes to another new BMW.

Of all the brands I’ve owned (Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, JLR, etc), I always seem to come back to BMW, everything just ‘gels’. In chronological order, I have owned a 520i, 325d, 520d, 730d, 430d, and now a G20 320i M Sport. Common denominators are:

- Fun / sporty vs luxury trade off is superbly judged
- Seat comfort and interior build quality (ignoring the door bins…)
- Engines / gearboxes are years ahead of rivals in terms of refinement and mpg
- iDrive. No one has bettered this as a user interface
- Clarity and tactility of instrumentation. iD8 moves the game on (despite some unfortunate downsides)
- Better than average dealers but can be a bit of a postcode lottery!

Worried about the direction of travel with regard to BMWs design language and eventual withdrawal of ICE.
