Wireless charging

I upgraded my phone from an iPhone 7 to an iPhone SE 2020 last week. One of the extra features of the new phone is wireless charging.

I was out on a run today and on the way back I was surprised to see Waze complaining that the battery on my phone was running low. It had been sat on the charging shelf for the whole journey so I thought it should have been OK but it doesn’t look like it was charging at all. I tried taking the case off the phone in case that was interfering, but it made no difference. In the end I had to connect it via a USB cable.

Now I’m fairly sure my car has wireless charging (Sept 19 M Sport) and I know the phone does, so I’m not quite sure what’s going wrong. Anyone have any insights?

My phone needed a good firm shove down in my M5 - not sure if the phone (Galaxy Note 8) was too big for the space really or whether it was just a bit temperamental. But once I got the hang of it I loved wireless charging, which is all I use at home these days....

Check the charging area to see if you have the LED light just up from the cup holders if you don't then you only have the NFC mat which works the digital key card only.

Ah, I didn’t know there was supposed to be a light. I’ll look for it today.

I thought wireless charging was standard now?

Not sure about all territories, but it's an option in the UK market, it's part of Enhanced Bluetooth & Wireless Charging. It's also rolled into at least one package.

SE2020 is on the small side and needs to sit fairly still on the charging area. Make sure the blue light is on.

Also have the home button nearest the driver otherwise the phone just got hot for me.

No blue light, just a USB socket near my cupholders, so it looks like there’s no wireless charging for me :-(

Tbh with you the wireless charging is handy & the car can remind you that you have left your phone on the mat, if your prone to forgetfulness, but chargi g speed is around 10 watts iirc so charging the phone via the usb's under the arm rest will always charge it much faster.
