I would think it should be able to be recoded and it's just the perimeters have changed in the update.

Had 11/2019.70 update applied Friday. Thought it might have done something to the lights as it logged a check control failure for the lights after the update applied. Turned car off, left it 10 mins and came back and was fine again. Car needs to go in for recall so hoping they'll put the latest update (which I'm assuming has android auto in) when they do that

Just got home after service and recall. Got Android Auto now, car is on 07/2020.30 software now .
On my receipt they've written "customer reported issues with Bluetooth/Apple CarPlay connection. Found to require reprogramming and updating. Carried out programming and update as required. All okay". |

I’m going to contact my dealer for an update. Not sure if just me, but the system seems slow to load. I drove (admittedly 2 minutes) to the post office and couldn’t get a single song to play on Spotify. It’s like system needs 5 minutes to warm up otherwise everything seems slow.... there is a definite lag that’s for sure, but perhaps I’m comparing to the Audi which was instant?
Either way, could be a way to get latest version and Android auto |

Mine does this with Amazon Music via CarPlay. It often doesn’t work when picking songs when you first start it up, but once it’s ‘woken up’ it will work fine. Made all the more frustrating when you’ve got a 4 year old in the back demanding PJ Masks/Paw Patrol etc.! |

Bit of an update. So I've managed to get it working after some fiddling around, but, not happy with it still. The battery on the phone drains really quick, probably lost 10% in only 30 mins which for our phones is pretty bad, and the Google Maps is blurry. Possibly some settings to tweak but it's better than not working at all hah

I’m booked in on Thursday for a software update.
After the last visit they didn’t understand how to do it/what I wanted, have spoken to somebody different and booked it in again. Currently on the latest OTA update which was pushed recently 11.2019.70... hoping I get put on 7.2020.xx... Someone mentioned calls dropping off on Bluetooth/via CarPlay is an excuse to book it in and to be fair it is doing that plus selecting music via CarPlay can be really slow for the first few mins until it ‘warms up’ too. Let’s hope the right people are there when it goes in who know how to update or this time! Will report back when it’s done. |

For reasons known only to themselves, BMW push the remote (OTA) software updates out at a much delayed rate to the actual version that’s available. Was convinced mine didn’t work and then all of a sudden one came through, the 11.2019.70 version, that’s the latest remote software release out there. If your car is on 03/2020.40, you’ll never get a remote software update through until they push out a later version than that as a remote/OTA version. My car was in a few weeks ago, eventually a conversation with the right guy (master technician) at the dealership explained all this to me. Unfortunately many BMW reps either don’t understand this themselves or can’t explain it clearly enough, which leaves us, the user thinking we have cars that aren’t updating remotely and should be - when in reality, they never will until the software version later than the one you already have is pushed out OTA... |
