I'm sure others can chime in on that. There's also a current thread from another member talking about their experience with that tune

Yes and others can contribute more than I can but I think there's more safety checks/restrictions in place with Mission's tune over the JB4. I'm a firm believer in the saying "you get what you pay for".
I believe JB4 is only piggy back. There's pros and cons to both but you'll have to do your homework and figure out what's going to work best for you!

I'm running mission stage 2, and all I can say is I have a new car. Much better car than when I bought it. The power is simply insane, as I came from a F80 competition 6mt, and my old car is no where near the new in terms of performance. M340i by mission performance is simply brutal. And Alex is a top guy, always there to help.
The other tunes I cannot talk about as I have zero experience with them. |

I didn't think BM3 was available yet on the M340...

Over OBD2? For all software updates? The M340 isn't specifically listed on their site yet under the B58 tune. Not arguing with ya, you just apparently have more info than I.

Keep in mind when Toyota Global Corporation needed someone to tune their own B58 equipped (our engine) Supra Heritage edition they hired and flew Alex (Mission Performance) out to work on the car. Point being with unlimited resources and the pick of tuners around the world and their reputation on the line - they chose Alex. He is that good. You and your car will be in very good hands working with MP - can't wait to read your review https://pressroom.toyota.com/500-hor...o-supras-past/ Last edited by chenry; 02-29-2020 at 03:37 PM.. I'm still waiting for my car to arrive but I am leaning towards JB4 because I can transfer it to my next lease (next gen m240i?) or sell it to recoup costs. I've done this before with the Dinan piggyback and it has worked out well for me.

Proven tunes are very safe, you can easily check that by data logging and monitoring boost, far, ignition timing, knock sensors, etc... Anything in life has risks. You make it sound as if proven tunes have a high risk of engine failure which is not true. It's like saying do not push your car over 6k unless you have money set aside for a new engine.

Also proven tunes is not a true statement, any tune can cause failure even the stock one, but the stock one provides a real warranty and was developed by a team of engineers |

I'm not saying it's impossible; as I said earlier, everything is possible, but the risk is negligible at best. As mentioned above, Toyota used a tuner to increase power on their new model. Does that make the latest Toyota model less reliable? of course not.
