Agreed. It’s irritating to have to do it but I find simply a disconnect/reconnect solves it instantly. Like you, mines been fine since Sunday.

I had some time to kill sat in the car today and when I tried Alexa, it was giving the usual error message.

I didn't touch anything on the car, just played around with the app on the phone. First time I went to check My BMW, it was actually logged out! Doesn't look like a new version had been installed so not sure why.

Once I logged in, it worked. I tried to break it by changing the "Always ON" / "While using" but didn't seem to make a difference.

What did break it was killing the app by swiping up (as expected).

Would be interesting if when someone else gets the error on the car, without doing anything else, swipe up and kill the app, then restart it and see if it works.

Without changing anything mine worked perfectly 3 times. Then 4th time went back to the usual message????

Did you try swiping up to kill the app and then restart it? For me it fixed it which suggests it’s more of an iPhone / app issue than one with the software on the car itself.

I’m running the iOS 14.5 beta 4.

I am on 14.4.1

It didn't work one day then ok the next? Then during the drive it stopped working so very frustrating. I couldn't kill the app during the drive. Essential journey tomorrow so will try again restarting the app before I start.

Today mine worked... Less than 10 seconds later didn’t work (brought up an error). 10 seconds later didn’t work (brought up a different error). Then 10 seconds later worked again

My BMW app says 'not supported' for my 2020 330i even though I am on 11/2020 after connected Alexa in the app.

iPhone 12 Pro Max with iOS 14.4.1

Any ideas?

Have you enabled 3rd parties in the idrive under voice control? Might be also worth checking if you chose to allow sharing all data.

You need your vehicle software to be at 11/2020.54 before the car will let you get involved in all the fun and games. I won't be even trying.

I get the feeling by the sheer randomness and amount of issues that the problems are not user specific but something at the backend. Hence the reason BMW have yet to release myBMW update for Android.

And seems 11/2020.50 is supported, so assume that's a minimum level required. There or there abouts. Can't really comment on its reliability though as only used it twice. Not something that I can really see me using/needing.

To be honest I'm surprised there's so many subversions about. I know a few on here have 11/2020.57

(sorry about poor picture. don't know how to screenshot on iOS let alone how to send it to another non-apple phone)

That's what's interesting.

In 11/2020.45 there is no option 'Voice Control enabled for 3rd parties'.

I haven't tried a full reset, but logging out of my profile and back in, makes no difference.

Presumably that was added in 11/2020.50 and above.

Doing a reset made this appear for me (only thing that would, not even an i-level update, or VO Code). It also made the "not supported" change to "available" in the app.

My Alexa function hasnt been working since the update, no matter what I did with the My BMW app or my profile...

So this morning I did an Idrive reset, Power button down for 30 seconds, and when it all rebooted, Alexa is working.. Stopped and started the car 2 times and still working fine.. :-)
