Lease Mileage

Has anyone attempted to contact their lease company to have your annual mileage reduced and monthly payments reduced as well?
I have 2019 330i and at the start of 3 year lease I had mileage as 11,000 per annum. During lockdown and not using the car I only have 8,500 miles done in 20 months.

I lease my car and I don’t think lease agreements can be renegotiated.

Even if you can, I don’t think the payment reduction would be that much.

I think you can only increase mileage agreements, this was certainly the case with my dealer.
On the plus side, there won’t be any excess mileage payments due.

Agreed - never heard of one you can adjust downwards. That said, these are exceptional times and they may make some allowance, but normally no chance.

Are you on a PCP or a PCH ? Both types of finance you can alter your mileage allowance

Not downwards on a PCH.

I renegotiated mine with VWFS to reduce the millage on PCH. It reduced it by £40 a month which was not as much as I'd hoped but it was straightforward and it sounded like it was something they were doing a lot.

There was an admin charge they added on which is why it didn't reduce by as much as I expected.

But was that as a result of COVID goodwill because normally you’d have no chance, for obvious reasons.

It was actually pre-Covid in 2019. I would imagine it would depend on the lease company but for VWFS it was no issue changing the terms. It actually did me a favour as when I extended the lease when the G21 was delayed due to lockdown they kept it at the reduced price.

I think the admin charge was £60 inc VAT

That’s interesting. Perhaps because even the mileage you reduced it to was still fairly high and was still worth their while. Never knew you could do that though.
